Well, okay, then!

In my *mumblety* years in slash fandom, I've encountered very, very few online services that didn't just tolerate us, but actively welcomed, understood, and appreciated our community.

Hello, Pinboard: The Fans Are All Right.

I was going to hold off on moving all my bookmarks until I saw whether Delicious was going to get itself together, but screw that. I'm moving to Pinboard.

ETA: When I first posted this, I had forgotten that Pinboard charges a one-time set-up fee, which is just under $10. Obviously not everybody can justify that in their budgets these days. However, fandom being fandom, there's already a lively swapmeet going over on the fannish Pinboard comm where many people are offering to gift Pinboard accounts to fellow fans, either gratis or in exchange for small fannish services.

I didn't bookmark before, but after seeing how amazing that guy is over at Pinboard, watching it all unfold on Twitter, I decided to take the plunge. I started with all my RL bookmarks, for personal things, (of which there are many) and made those private, and will move on to fandom things at my leisure. I'm totally happy with it. That blog post--brought a tear to my eye.

I've been playing with the site off and on this afternoon, and I'm much happier with it than I was with delicious (even before they broke it!) I'm really happy to support a place that still values the basics of performance and customer service.

I never used to bookmark until I got into Merlin a few years ago, but now I can't do without it!
