12) ENCHANTED MERLIN. RUDE, HOMICIDAL MERLIN. OMG, he is so funny. I honestly did not know Colin could be that funny. I love seeing him play what's essentially a totally different character -- there's something awesomely hard and sharp about him here.

I am constantly amazed by what an amazing actor Colin is every time I see him do old Merlin, and this one was even better in some ways, because it was *almost* Merlin, but everything about him - how he held himself, how he walked, a slight difference in his voice, his accent, his speech patterns--all just slightly off. That takes more talent than I can imagine.

And I have to confess to you guys, I got just the tiniest little bit of evil satisfaction over Merlin verbally bitchslapping Gwen. I KNOW, I'M SORRY. I couldn't help it. It was so awesomely meta.

I think you have nothing to be sorry about. That was just aweesome!

I do love that Arthur is willing to logically consider whether any of his own knights might be the traitor. He trusts them, but he's not going to be blind about it. Same for family members, don't you agree, AGRAVAINE?

Except for Merlin. He, alone, is above suspicion.

17) Arthur suspects Agravaine! Not firmly enough yet, but next week looks like it could be promising on that front. FINALLY. His little speech about how he would be betraying Arthur's mother if he betrayed Arthur made me happy that at least the writers haven't forgotten that his betraying Arthur really doesn't make sense. And it gives me hope that maybe they plan to explain his motivations at some point.

I was wondering today while I watched that scene if perhaps he blames Arthur for his sister's death. That would be a motivator.

And then the rest is so funny. I have never loved Gwen more than in this scene. She was so adorable and funny and damn, she looks good with her hair like that (and her dress like that). Why can't she be like that all the time?

Because she's the only character they consistently write inconsistently.

And slamming the knights around into each other -- how many times you do think Merlin has fantasized about doing that while watching the knights training with each other?

I loved that so much - you know he's totally wanted to do that for ages!
