It's OK that you didn't have squee; I had enough for both of us. *g*

Merlin can't even look at Arthur.

He never can when he's crying! Dude, I was thinking about this last night, about all the times Merlin has cried over various things and looked away from Arthur, like he's ashamed to have Arthur see him that way. It just strikes me as so touching, because really, the minute Merlin gets choked up, Arthur seems to feel a compulsion to comfort and reassure him - teasing or joking or reminding him that no man is worth his tears, or getting choked up himself, you name it. AND I LOVE IT, because, I don't know, it goes to show that Merlin's feeeeeeelings impact Arthur to a ridiculous degree.

I think Arthur just proved that when the time comes, he'll be able to accept and understand exactly what Merlin has done for him, and he'll love him the more for it.

I will be totally shocked if it goes this way, to be honest, but I'd love it if it did. There are apples, oranges and bananas in the basket - the lie, the magic, and the reason for the lie. He's going to be fine with the magic and the reason for the lie, but I think it's going to take him a minute to come to terms with the lie itself. The foundation of trust will be shaken a bit, because that's human nature. See: 242346029364023946 predictive fanfics. Heh.
