The twist at the end was obvious, but I liked it -- primarily for Merlin's stunned and horrified reaction. I liked that he immediately recognized and berated himself for his stupidity.

That was my second favorite moment of the episode. I think I NEEDED to see that. Merlin's whole life for the past seven? years has been save Arthur, save Arthur, save Arthur to the point he simply can't think things through rationally. A part of himself has been lost, I think, because of his single-minded devotion to Arthur. It simultaneously thrills me and saddens me.

Your last observation about what you liked was another fave moment for me too. Colin's voice was so freaking sexy too. The fact that Arthur didn't tease him was amazing in itself!
