I absolutely loved this fic. It made me laugh (at so many points) and cry (the scene at the crash site). It's funny, we know that Uther is going to die from the very beginning, but I got so wrapped up in the story that I forgot it was going to happen and was suddenly wrapped up in dread. The pacing was magnificent; at every moment we were being carried forward. I loved the triumph and matter-of-factness of Arthur's coming out speech, but I also loved the portrayal of Merlin's bisexuality, and the difficulty of his position. That's not something you get often in modern royalty AUs; it's always depicted as being easier for commoners to be queer. So it was wonderful to see that spin on a genre that I already love. This is definitely a story I will be reading again.
