So who's going down to the Mall tomorrow for the inauguration? I am still debating whether I want to go -- I mean, I want desperately to go, but oy, the crowds. I'm not entirely sure my knees can take it.

Sweetie, it ain't your knees that's gonna suffer, it's yer BLADDER. They'z gonna be NO public restrooms, according to the WaPo (and Kit, who's a bit more reliable). Which is, I think, purely criminal, but hey. They wanna keep the crowds down.

A co-worker (who's just a kid compared to me) actually scored seated tix. I envy her, but even if I had 'em, I wouldn't go. Gah.

I kind of want to see the parade, but it looks to be *insane* based on the traffic I saw on the Metro yesterday.

I think being there in spirit makes a lot more sense. The Democrats Abroad group in Toronto is sending a couple of busloads of people, but I don't have 2 days to spare and I hate crowds.

I can cheer from here...

I would say you're MUCH better off watching it at home. Not only will you have a better view, but it's just going to be completely insane. I've heard there are so many people who have been planning to come from out of town that no hotel rooms have been available for months, I keep hearing about all the bus trips down from my area (for like $500 a person!!!!) and various other insanities, esp. from a friend of mine who works for the FBI who is on security detail for tomorrow. Just from what I've heard from him there's no way in hell you'd get me anywhere near DC tomorrow, let alone close to the Mall.

But, YMMV.

Here's a post from a friend who went to the concert yesterday. It doesn't sound like you'd see much if you went, but I totally have the same feeling that I should go. I won't, but I feel like I should.

I really, really wanted to go. I had planned to go. But when I read that you had to be prepared to stand for hours, I had to let it go. I have bad feet and standing for long periods of time is very painful.

But I'm sad, because I really, really wanted to go. And watching all the people who are so happy and so excited makes me want to go even more.
