So who's going down to the Mall tomorrow for the inauguration? I am still debating whether I want to go -- I mean, I want desperately to go, but oy, the crowds. I'm not entirely sure my knees can take it.
Sweetie, it ain't your knees that's gonna suffer, it's yer BLADDER. They'z gonna be NO public restrooms, according to the WaPo (and Kit, who's a bit more reliable). Which is, I think, purely criminal, but hey. They wanna keep the crowds down.
A co-worker (who's just a kid compared to me) actually scored seated tix. I envy her, but even if I had 'em, I wouldn't go. Gah.
Wow, no restrooms? Last I heard, they were doing a lot of port-a-potties -- if they're not, that could definitely sway me toward the "no" end of the scale. Yesterday on the radio I heard the guy from the Metro saying that they'd have port-a-potties outside all the Metro stations, and that's going to be a scary scene if those are the only ones available.
I would definitely go if I'd gotten a seat. It's being on my feet crammed into one place for so many hours that worries me.
If there are port-a-potties, they'll only be the ones around metro. And the metro stations will be partially closed, some will be exit only or entrance only. Out here in Virginia, ALL the bridges are closed, most of the inner expressways are closed, and we've got a lot of employees who live inside the beltway who don't know if they'll be able to get back home once they come in -- they can get here, but getting home? not so much! At least you're not on the wrong side of the Potomac!
It's scary, I tell you. I'm gonna just watch it on TV, even though a big part of me really wants to be there.
I've been watching CNN a lot this weekend, and they talked about the port-a-potties at one point. There are a ton lined up along the mall, and from what they were saying, it sounds as if there are going to be plenty all over.
For which they will probably toss you in jail. It is already madness down here, has been all weekend, and we're no where near D.C. Just had a friend leave, she was in D.C. Saturday and she said it was already nutso. And it's FREEZING. She passed charter busload upon busload of pilgrims attendees on her way back to NC yesterday too.
