T. Day, part 2
Nov. 27th, 2008 08:05 pmThe turkey -- totally delicious. The olive oil and herb rub really made it. Even my mother liked it. The carcass is now bubbling on the stove in the process of turning into soup.
Speaking of my mother, we've been watching the House marathon on USA all day. During a random scene with House and Wilson talking, she suddenly comments, "The whole show is really about the two of them, isn't it?"
I swear, I didn't coach her!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Nov. 27th, 2008 12:34 pmMy turkey has been brined, rubbed down with various seasoning and basting agents (over and under the skin), stuffed with aromatics, stuffed into a roasting bag, nestled on a rack (to make my mother happy), and tucked into the oven with a meat thermometer strategically placed.
Pray for me.
But seriously, thanks for all the turkey advice. I am confident that if this turkey does not turn out, it will not be for lack of knowledge or effort.
Now to tackle the side dishes.
Hope everyone's having a good day, however you're spending it!

An informal poll for us novice roasters (with our mothers at our house)--
A moist, tender, yummy Thanksgiving turkey: what's YOUR secret?
Also, I'm about to watch Merlin 1.10, which I understand might actually make my head explode and the very atoms of my physical form rend asunder with the sheer force of its slashiness. Perhaps the turkey will be a non-issue.
