Sadly, he was my favorite, and I thought it was a pretty pointless and pathetic death. But I do like Lois, who seems like the one new character that might stick around.
I liked that it was a miscalculation that had rather rapid consequences - you didn't really see it coming until it was suddenly there. I hadn't been expecting Ianto to survive the week, but thought he'd get a blaze of glory on the Friday. I prefer this, though - his death gives the others a more personal fire in the belly and ups the stakes massively. And I might actually have a hope in hell of being able to write Lois....
So, sorry, but I love RTD and the gang for this. :) Jack is not going to be a happy bunny come tomorrow!
