Quick catch-up
Catching up on the last week or so --
* Yuletide is finished and posted! A full day early, which is almost a record for me, so now I have to dislike myself, too. Good luck to everyone still finishing! Remember, the more you stress, the more bears get their wings! Er, or something like that, I've heard?
* I still haven't watched last week's Merlin. At this point, might wait until just before this week's. Finale, sob. I have so much anxiety over this finale
* I saw Sherlock 2 and MI:4 last weekend. I have not had that much fun at the movies in one weekend in a long time. And wow, slashtastic, if you're into that sort of thing.
We saw MI:4 at the Smithsonian IMAX screen at the Air & Space Museum, which was awesome as always. We have an AMC "IMAX" much, much closer, which is also a nice screen, but if you want the full six-story IMAX experience, you pretty much have to schlep out to the museum.
But the best part was that I idly tweeted that I was seeing the movie and said "Thanks, Smithsonian!" -- and Monday morning, I got a cheery "You're welcome!" response from the Smithsonian IMAX twitter account. I didn't even know they had a twitter account!
* More LJ shenanigans, I see. I don't see much effect from it personally, other than some comm irritations. I really wish I liked Dreamwidth better.
* Just one more week (and a bit) of 2011! Wow, I cannot wait to see the back of it. What a craptastic year.

SH2 is what happens when a slash writers locks the real writers out of the writing room and proceeds to hammer out a slash story in script form with a PG rating. And I say that with both the good (drag wrestling, hand holding, m/m Victorian ballroom dancing) and bad (eh, who needs female love interests, let's kill them all or at least toss them off a train). I loved it, but am kind of cross-eyed trying to figure out who it's audience is other than slash fans.
IS MI4 good? I've heard it's very slashy, but to see it I'd probably have to see the other 3 MI movies and that's a time commitment. I love Jeremy Renner, but Tom Cruise is kind of icky to me. I'm thinking I should just wait for Avengers for my Renner fix (along with more RDJ and Chris E and Chris H (and his hair)). Ack - is it May yet?!
Not enough people are posting to DW from my F-list for me to migrate there. Right now I have a holding account and cross post once in a while in a DesCartian I blog therefore I am fuge state, but mostly LJ is where everyone still posts despite LJ's desperate attempts to make it suck.

MI4 is a great action flick, and you really don't need to have seen the other 3 movies. I barely remember them myself. You could just read the summary on the IMDB or something just to get the basic concept of the universe--the plot of this one really does stand on its own. And Jeremy Renner was totally worth it all by himself.
I cross post from DW when I remember to do it, which has gotten less frequent. I really like some of the DW concepts and ambitions, and there are a couple features there that I would kill to have on LJ, but yeah, most fannish activity is still on LJ and I don't anticipate that changing unless/until LJ just self-destructs beyond usability.
