corilannam: (BSG - stuck at work)

Back to work today after two days of "working" at home (which mostly consisted of watching TV - don't worry, I was honest on my timesheet!) The DC area got much luckier than we had expected. No damage in my neighborhood and I didn't lose power for more than about a second. Today is cloudy, but with brilliant swathes of intense blue sky cutting through the clouds.

In a brief, non-scientific, but amusing study of human nature - I bought a tub of chocolate chip cookies at Trader Joe's during my last minute storm prep shopping. About half the tub was left as of this morning, so I brought it into work. When I took it into the kitchen to leave it on the counter, there were already two other tubs of Trader Joe's cookies sitting there. I traded mine for a couple of cranberry dunkers and called it breakfast.

I caught up with a lot of TV I've had piling up:

Homeland - I wondered how they were ever going to follow up that intense and amazing first season. Apparently the answer was: become even more intense and amazing.

Beauty and the Beast - I had my doubts about this reboot of the old 80s classic show (I was never allowed to watch it, but my best friend would tell me every detail of what happened the next day at school). But I actually like it so far. I love that it's so multi-racial and female-centric. If they keep developing all the potentially interesting relationships, it could end up being really good.

Arrow - I am not generally a fan of the broody, lair-building superhero. But geez, this guy is hot. The set-up is a lot like Revenge, which I love, so I'll keep watching and see how it develops.

Dancing with the Stars - I'm not so much watching this show as fast-forwarding to anything involving Gilles Marini, on whom I have a starry-eyed crush.

Still sending good thoughts to all my northern friends dealing with much worse Sandy aftereffects. *hugs*

omigawd, Homeland. I'm starting to think I need blood pressure meds to get through it safely.

And there's now a third season in the offing, and I'm already stressed about it.

Oh, seriously. Have you seen 2.05 yet? That scene, near the end? I couldn't breathe during it. Could. not. breathe.

It's one of the very few shows I've ever seen where they can show me a character in a moment of decision, and I honestly have no idea what they're going to do.

Yes, exactly. And even when they're doing it, you're not sure of all their motivations. And maybe they're not, either.

And it might go well or spectacularly badly, but it's definitely not going to happen any way that you imagine it will.

When she interrogated him, omg, I was all foetal in my chair.
