Back to work today after two days of "working" at home (which mostly consisted of watching TV - don't worry, I was honest on my timesheet!) The DC area got much luckier than we had expected. No damage in my neighborhood and I didn't lose power for more than about a second. Today is cloudy, but with brilliant swathes of intense blue sky cutting through the clouds.
In a brief, non-scientific, but amusing study of human nature - I bought a tub of chocolate chip cookies at Trader Joe's during my last minute storm prep shopping. About half the tub was left as of this morning, so I brought it into work. When I took it into the kitchen to leave it on the counter, there were already two other tubs of Trader Joe's cookies sitting there. I traded mine for a couple of cranberry dunkers and called it breakfast.
I caught up with a lot of TV I've had piling up:
Homeland - I wondered how they were ever going to follow up that intense and amazing first season. Apparently the answer was: become even more intense and amazing.
Beauty and the Beast - I had my doubts about this reboot of the old 80s classic show (I was never allowed to watch it, but my best friend would tell me every detail of what happened the next day at school). But I actually like it so far. I love that it's so multi-racial and female-centric. If they keep developing all the potentially interesting relationships, it could end up being really good.
Arrow - I am not generally a fan of the broody, lair-building superhero. But geez, this guy is hot. The set-up is a lot like Revenge, which I love, so I'll keep watching and see how it develops.
Dancing with the Stars - I'm not so much watching this show as fast-forwarding to anything involving Gilles Marini, on whom I have a starry-eyed crush.
Still sending good thoughts to all my northern friends dealing with much worse Sandy aftereffects. *hugs*

Cannot wait to see Homeland season 2. I've been reading the recaps and it sounds like a blast!
I'm watching Arrow but don't know how long I'll stick around. I'm a Green Arrow fan from childhood and this is skewed towards a totally different universe and demographic. However, the pretty is keeping me hanging about since there's nothing else of interest on here in that time slot.

Date: 2012-11-01 07:06 pm (UTC)Yes, I remembered you were a big Green Arrow fan! The show is definitely not aimed at comic fans, alas, but the set-up has some potential if handled well. I admit I haven't paid attention to who is running it or writing for it. For now, the pretty will keep me watching and we'll see how it goes.
Homeland, on the other hand, is actively fantastic!

Actually a friend of mine who owns a comic book store in the US was telling me that they are very much marketing this show to the fans. With banners for Arrow on all the DC imprints and a comic to go along with the series, et. The Arrow writers have gone to great lengths to even name characters after famous writers and artists from GA. Which I'll admit has been a bit of a hoot.
Yeah, as long as dude keep hanging half naked from the bar doing pull ups I'll probably be around.
As for Homeland, once iTunes.ca gets it's head out of it's arse and puts season two up I'll be devouring it.

Date: 2012-11-01 07:08 pm (UTC)It's one of the very few shows I've ever seen where they can show me a character in a moment of decision, and I honestly have no idea what they're going to do.

When she interrogated him, omg, I was all foetal in my chair.
