Wait. There aren't *two* directors named Oliver Stone, are there?

Hm. So Oliver Stone gave a talk at Berkeley last week, and according to a couple of different reports from people who attended, he's intending to completely re-edit the movie, mixing up the timeline and significantly shortening the movie by removing some elements he felt were less than successful. Including, of course, some elements for which I have a personal fondness.

We'll have to wait and see how much of that actually pans out, but color me vaguely disgruntled in the meantime.  At least it explains the ridiculous delay in announcing a release date.

Eurgh, I heard about that too. I just hope there'll be a release in the theatre version as well >.

Yeah, I heard this two, and it sucks. It's the first time I've ever heard of a movie being shorter and having *less* material on DVD than it did in the theater. I am pretty horrified -- I was hoping, if anything, for more A/H, not less.

We can only hope that the European DVD version will have the theatrical cut and we can get our hands on it through Amazon UK or somewhere.

Really, this just totally sucks.
