A very moving week

I was going to write a long and detailed post about my moving experience and how everything went and what it's like living by myself for the first time -- but so far my first week in the new place has been spent having an ear infection, a cold, and the stomach flu, in that order.  I think somebody shot their widdle immune system all to hell....

So here's a summary:

The week before:  FREEEEEEEAK.  packpackpack.  *whine*  FREAKFREAKFREAK

Friday:  Finally get keys and see place for first time.  "See" is approximate term, since am mostly catatonic at this point and must be corralled into final stages of packing by [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew and [livejournal.com profile] ndannais.

Saturday:  Moving day!  Wherein everything actually went about as smoothly as could be hoped, for the most part.  Discover absolute proof that [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew, [livejournal.com profile] ndannais, [livejournal.com profile] meeby and [livejournal.com profile] lanning are the best people in the world.  Discover that Comcast sucks in even more ways than previously suspected, but that they hire some damn cute contractors these days. Discover that two of my big, burly, black movers are huge X-Files fans, completely enchanted with my collection of Fight the Future posters, and ready to discuss the mess of the later seasons (are also thrilled by my new Supernatural magnets that christened the fridge as soon as I got there).  Feel better about large tip I was already giving them.  Come to terms with second year of no VividCon.

Sunday:  Unpacking.  More fabulousness on the parts of the aforementioned [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew, [livejournal.com profile] ndannais, [livejournal.com profile] meeby who between them managed to hook up my electronics, take me shopping and put together all my furniture.  Ear infection begins, as does poverty, but both are dismissed in wave of shinyhappyprettyapartment glee.

Monday:  Back to work.  Ear much worse.  Go to see The Breakup (highly unrecommended, btw), and start shaking with fever chills halfway through.  Great.

Tuesday:  It's just a cold.  Drag self into work.  Stay at work for about an hour and a half before admitting surrender.  Discover on the bus home that cold is in fact stomach flu.  Whoops.  Remain in misery until [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew comes to rescue with magical 7-Up.

Wednesday:  Same as Tuesday, only without the deluded attempt at going to work.  No unpacking, but manage to wash a dish. Go me!

Thursday:  Much better.  Unpacking tonight, plus the hooking up of the TiVo *hopehope*

So.  That's been my week.  Y'all are invited over!

I am feeling better, finally, and hoping that I've used up my run of bad health for the year! So far everything's been where I needed to be, except for my ipod charger which continues to elude my most ardent searches. :-P

good! :)

and things like lost chargers make me wish we could have a multidimensional backpack that we could sort of carry around with us....out of sight, but always available with all the stuff we're going to need safely packed away.

Yay for having your own home, soooooo nice when you can mooch around in undies on lazy sunday mornings and venture up in the middle of the night and put on music and eat ice cream, or do the dishes if you feel like it :-) I adore having my own place and really it's worth the penury (baaad) to be able to lock the door behind you and know that this is yours and nobody elses. And hey, you know that if you ever make it to Sweden *hinthint* you can always stay at Hotel MJ.

Buenos dias,

Chiming in late. Hope you are feeling much better this morning and settling into your new home.

I have lived alone for decades. I cannot even imagine not living alone. Such freedom and ease on one's own.

Enjoy!
