But am I really too old to be a groupie?
Thanks for all the birthday wishes! All additional slave boys can line up to the left and wait for orders.
I'm pretty amused that I'm turning 30 on a Friday the 13th. I think I realized at some point that that was going to happen, but I'd forgotten until this week. I've decided to take this as a good omen for the next decade of my life. When I hit shuffle on my ipod this morning, the first song that came up was "Golden Years" -- I can't decide if it was offering me advice, encouragement, or just being snarky.
My gifts this year:
1) continuing to breathe
2) getting to see my mother on my birthday for the first time since I turned 17
3) an upcoming trip to Chicago from
chelseafrew and
ndannais (to see
deannie and
noelql!!!! oh, and Duran Duran, too. *g*)
4) the first stirrings of a new
yuletide (y'all know about Goal! right? never mind, pimp you later)
5) cake and gift cards from my coworkers
6) the influx of good wishes (and random pictures of Simon Le Bon and John Taylor) from y'all
Of the four major life goals I set on my last birthday to accomplish before this one, I accomplished one completely, one most of the way, and two... well, I'm at least thinking about them. That's a start, right?
I did get a couple of opportunities for reflection on this birthday -- I typed it all out, but it was way too navel-gazing for public consumption. Just assume two Jehovah's Witnesses, a bus stop, and a previously annoying coworker and write your own parable about wanting to assume the good in people and respond to people with a pleasant spirit. Yes, that includes my mother. Even when she turns off the cable box while my TiVo is trying to record Supernatural. *deep, mature breath*
Every year, I want to give Hobbit gifts for my birthday, and every year I forget to do anything until the actual day, by which time it's much too late. So if anyone would like a wee ficlet from me, just leave me a wee prompt. Any fandom you know I'm familiar with. Because helping me avoid work is the gift that keeps on giving....

... wow. And I used that phrase unironically. I think something in me just broke.

Sure, I'd love to do lunch. Friday and Saturday (the 27th and 28th) are my two possibilities for that, though I'm not sure what else is planned for those days. Let me know if there's a good time for you.

Happy birthday! Happy birthday! Happy happy birthday to you!
I would like Jim/Blair in the loft. (Yes. Very difficult. You must work very hard for that.)

And hm. It's been a long time since I've written Jim and Blair. Let me see what I can come up with. :-)

And I can send you Bloodlust as a VCD as soon as I get it downloaded if you want.

And thanks for the offer, but no worries. I always download them anyway, but I like having them on my TiVo for easier obsessive rewatching. *g*

Ah, wow, I didn't realize you were turning the 'big 3-0' ;) (although I totally should have, seeing as I knew you and my brother were born the same year and I
teased him mercilesslywished him a happy 30th in June).Glad you're having a great day - and hey, having one major life goal done and another nearly so? Way more than I've been able to get done from any of my yearly lists. Congrats on that, it's a huge accomplishment. :)
Hope to see ya soon.
(were you able to watch Supernatural? Just the thought of missing it makes me have the shakes)

Yup, I did see Supernatural. Whew! Missing it would be a bad, bad thing... *shudder*
