ahhhh, vacation
Jul. 3rd, 2009 11:39 amHello from the free wi-fi of beautiful Panera Hyannis (Barnstable?). We've been enjoying a relaxing morning of loitering while absorbing the sweet purity of the internets and stalking people for the tables with electric plugs. (Sadly, when we finally made our move, the plug turned out to be dead. 18% battery power remaining, meep.)
It is lovely to be somewhere with nothing in particular to do. It's a bit wet here on the Cape today, so there's not great pressure to go to the beach or wander about outside. I have notebooks with me in case I want to write something. The BBC will get the new Torchwood radio play file up for download *any minute now, I'm sure.* In a few minutes, I will probably use my tea cup to sneak some soda. Life is good.
We saw a lovely production of Brigadoon last night, from the front row, for free. I even managed to only think about how to make it into a Merlin AU for about three-quarters of the show. The rendition of "America the Beautiful" at the end was a little odd, but it's a minor issue.
And we made it to the theatre and back despite the town of Falmouth's near-total fail at street signs. I had to ask a very nice lady at a convenience store for directions. "Oh, I get this all the time," she said. "I just bet you do," I replied. Turned out we were only about a block from the theatre (well, the entrance to the road up the very large hill to the theatre) at that point, so all was well.
Really, the only bad thing is that Star Trek is not playing here.
So how are your holiday weekends going, fellow Americans? Everyone else having a good Friday?
