May. 15th, 2002 03:36 pmI've been such a bad girl about updating, and I owe way too many people e-mail (you know who you are, and I promise I haven't forgotten and I'm not ignoring you!). But I still have 8 hours and 23 minutes until the midnight show of Episode II, so I can put at least a brief update in here.
First, recent trip to NYC:
Randy Harrison -- cute as a bug, looks exactly like he does on QAF, only less happy. The play itself ("A Letter from Ethel Kennedy") was actually a better experience than seeing Randy, which I wasn't expecting.
Liam Neeson -- Guh.
I mean, seriously, people. Guh. The man is... guh. And I've always considered myself much more a Qui-Gon fan than an actual Liam fan, but I challenge anyone to get within eyeshot or earshot of that man in person and not want to have sex with him. Immediately. Lord have mercy. It's just as well the people I was with didn't want to do the stage door. I might not have survived the experience.
Second, Episode II:
First subset of the second -- 8 hours and 12 minutes!!
Second subset of the second -- I'm feeling excited about Star Wars in a way that I haven't for several months. It's still remained my "home" fandom, but some of the thrill was gone and I was hopping through other fandoms at ever-increasing speeds. But now I've got that little jump in my stomach back when I think about Jedi, and I couldn't be happier.
I am puzzled by all the people on m_a who are terrified that Q/O will disappear in the wake of Episode II. New Star Wars just makes my desire to write about Qui-Gon all the greater. At least for me, any pairings which may intrigue me in AOTC will ever remain subservient to Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan. I don't need an OTP list to keep me faithful, though I'll join it anyway just so I don't miss anything.
8 hours and 9 minutes! And 38 minutes before I can leave to go get in line.
Well, there was going to be a third and a fourth, but I can see that I'm too distracted to think of much else right now, so it'll wait until I've seen Ep II a few times. Three showings in three different theaters in three different states in 24 hours isn't excessive. Is it?
8 hours, 3 minutes!
