Yuletide 'Fess Ups

Well, despite some unsubtle insinuations to the contrary by a dubious few of you, I did manage to get my assigned story done in time for the Yuletide Treasure rare fandom story exchange. In fact, I even got someone else's assigned story done, and a teensy extra one. Now that all the stories and authors have been revealed, I can confess that these were mine:

My actual assigned story, written for thehoyden --
An Unnatural Condition (Hornblower, HH/EP, HH/AK)

My last minute pinch hitting story (and the first femslash I've ever posted) --
Good to Mama (Chicago, Mama/Velma)

And a tiny snippet written to thank astolat for donating all her hard work and immense talents to the cause of giving us all fabulous fanfiction to read --
Undertow (Master and Commander (during the book Post Captain), Aubrey/Maturin)

Thanks as always to chelseafrew for beta reading and deadline freak-out handholding. And thank you to astolat and tzikeh for all the sweat and blood they poured into this event. I think it was worth it! And I have half the archive still to read....

What I love most from Yuletide --

* How many of my favorite stories were by authors I'd never heard of before.

* How energized I feel by having closed out the year by writing three pieces of fiction, however short.

* How I finally, finally have a piece of ReBoot slash to read, after years of fruitless hunting. And it was written for me!

Actually, you're going to have two. Eventually. 'Cause the one I originally started got too big for me to finish in the allotted amount time (my own damned fault for starting late), so when I realised I wouldn't be able to finish it I came up with a shorter idea and decided to wander back in here and post a link when the original fic gets finished.

Hi! Great to meet you, and have an LJ-face to put with the story. Thanks again for it. I started my assignment late, too, and had to cut it shorter, so I know how you feel. And I'm thrilled to death to hear that you're writing another ReBoot piece -- the fandom will be slash-free no longer! Can't wait to see it.

Hee! Well, I would love to write it again, if inspiration strikes. I had thought more about Velma/Roxie while watching the movie the first time, but now that I've tried the Velma/Mama, there's no going back. *g*
