Ah, the cry of the happy Jack fangirl.

Just to reiterate: *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

Why are they being so good to us? Why is RDA there for the entire frickin' episode?? Did we do a fandom-wide soul-selling deal over the hiatus that nobody told me about?

Well, gift horses and all that. A Day in the Life of General Jack O'Neill. I would have begged for this episode had I thought I had any chance of getting it.

A few thoughts in no particular order:

-- Jack's letter(s) to General Hammond. How much cuter could he possibly be? "I would have tried not to be such a pain...in...the...ass." Hee. The increasing desperation in his tone until he's ready to throw in the towel rather than deal with one more domestic crisis -- yes, now he *really* appreciates what an amazing job Hammond did all those years holding this place together.

-- Walter! Wow, this was the most dialogue he's had since... well, ever. And he was funny! I think he should get stuck with being Jack's aide now that the President's spy is gone. He's good at it, and it's fun watching Gary Jones try not to crack up when he's not talking.

-- Dr. Lee and his plant. I'm always happy to see Dr. Lee, and the plant was a fun B-plot that exemplified the edge of chaos the SGC must always live on. Daniel must be glad he was stuck offworld at the time. That plant would have been murder on his allergies. Though I admit, I was kind of hoping that he'd come through the gate at the end and immediately sneeze. That would have amused juvenile!me.

-- Ba'al and Camel-ass (hee! /juvenile) It was nice to see Ba'al again, though I was really hoping he'd have a more significant role. It was fun to see Jack rile him up, and it was nice to hear about Abyss from Reynolds, and it was kind of nifty that Ba'al was tricking them, but... well, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. What I was expecting was a good deal more angst and tension. But that's okay, I guess. I also thought that with the big deal of Camulus asking for asylum in the premiere, that they'd be doing something a little more important with him. But the season is young still.

-- Team interaction. Man, I'm eating it up with a spoon. I love Jack keeping SG-1 waiting in the briefing room, with all the eye-rolling and face-pulling. I loved Sam sulking in her lab, and Teal'c and Daniel coming in to cheer her up, so terribly amused by her indignation. So was this their first off-world mission without Jack? Awwww. I would have loved to see their part of the plot. Someone should write a story about that.

-- Speaking of Sam and her cute sulking, this is the Jack-Sam stuff I love. The bit at the end was lovely -- her nervousness about her evaluation and wanting to prove herself on her first command, his warm reassurance and clear admiration of her. Their friendship is wonderful when it's just natural like that. And I desperately want to know what Daniel and Teal'c wrote about her.

-- the Jack/Daniel. Quality over quantity, and it was adorable. They are so incredibly married. I loved Daniel walking off through the gate in the middle of Jack talking.

-- was he really not going to let them through at the end? I mean, seriously? Haven't they come through under fire after being captives plenty of times before? Where the hell did that protocol come from? Or is it just because it's Ba'al? I dunno. That little section didn't work quite as well as the rest of it for me. But please don't think I'm complaining.

I remember thinking about other stuff to say during the episode, but I'm all worn out from the squeeing, so I'll leave that to the rest of you.

I liked Atlantis an awful lot tonight, too. There's definitely going to be a fandom here. My only specific comment for the moment -- I had one last squee left in me for when I saw Mario Azzopardi's name. Mario! My very favorite Stargate director! Where the hell have you been for the last six years?

Ba'al and Camel-ass (hee! /juvenile)

When he called him Cammy, did you die, or what?? I still have not recovered from the laughing. And laughing! I think I hurt myself when Jack slammed the door on those two diplomats. *g*

He made a run for it. He escaped! LOL! And Jack's tiny, tiny reaction was so perfect.

OMG, I laughed so hard when he slammed that door that I literally fell off my chair! By the time we got to Cammy, I was wheezing. Nobody brings the funny like Jack.

And Daniel so left Sam holding the bag there. She's not allowed to walk off when the General's talking! Daniel is not above using unfair advantages to save himself. *g*

What did we do to deserve this episode??

I'm not sure, but if they'd just tell us, I'd give it up to them whenever they want it! *g*

We are going to squee a lot about SG at VividCon, yes? Wait, that would mean that I would have to talk. Hmm. Well, this might almost be worth it. *g*

Oh, we are so going to squee at VividCon. Don't think for a moment that you can avoid it. When we get episodes like this right before a con, I think we have an obligation. *g*

Yay!! :D But you know, we have to miss SG on Friday nite -- the hotel has no SciFi. Gah.

Surely we could corral a local with a VCR... 'cause come on! It's, er. Well, that would be spoilery. But man, it's like it comes pre-snarked! Plus, arms.

Last year [livejournal.com profile] djinanna was kind enough to tape it for me. It happened to be Birthright, and I watched it with [livejournal.com profile] lapillus and nearly hurt myself laughing at the penis scene. *g* Then I watched it again with [livejournal.com profile] barkley. But what would be cool would be if we could get a group together to watch it. Now *that* would be fun. The three of us, and Barkley and Carol, and whoever else will be there that's fun. *g*

Well, it's real lucky, then, that I'm actually staying with local friends who do have SciFi, and who will undoubtedly be taping SG anyway. I suspect a tape just might be able to find its way to the hotel.

*bats eyelashes really hard at [livejournal.com profile] noelql and [livejournal.com profile] deannie

Yes! We must do this.

Wheeee!

I remember just staring at the screen during that scene in Birthright, thinking there was no possible way they had just said what I thought they just said. And then it turned out that they did. *g*

*bounce* Saturday, then?

Saturday! :D After the Premieres show? That's probably the best time; we'll all be tired but amped up. (Depending, of course, on whether or not Cori has the tape. Whee!) I think I can safely volunteer my room, assuming Barkley is not sleepy. (Which she won't be. *sharpens the anti-sleep stick*)
