I've been meaning to make this journal entry for almost three weeks now, but--oooh, shiny! Fic!

You see how it goes.

It occurs to me that fandom often comes on like a disease in my experience. You know how it is when there's a flu bug going around, and you watch everyone around you falling prey to it, and you know you've got a pretty good chance of coming down with it, too, 'cause, you know, you've been exposed a lot and it's really virulent. But you keep dosing yourself with vitamin C and holding your breath when you're around an infected person, and so far, so good.

And you get that little tickle in the back of your throat. An itty-bitty cough. And a couple of sneezes. Just allergies! you protest with the bright-eyed cheer of the desperate woman in denial.

And then the fever hits.

Stargate is kinda like that.

Six years of ignoring it with iron-willed determination, and I was undone in three days by two maniacal SG-1 pimps on a mission. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] noelql and [livejournal.com profile] deannie, I'm looking at you. They fed me Jack owwies and Daniel angst until I was all aglow with the obsession, and now my days are spent hunting down fanfic and my nights are spent hunched in front of the television, popping episodes like they're happy pills. I have fic ideas tumbling through my brain, and I don't even care that they've probably been done 800 times before. I'm even pulling out my old college archaeology texts just for the sheer joy of reading about old things again.

And tonight Daniel comes back. A month ago, you could not possibly have convinced me that I would care. But now?eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! *cough*

Oh, how I love the honeymoon. It hasn't been like this for a long time.

[livejournal.com profile] noelql and [livejournal.com profile] deannie, by the way, are just about the best pimps you could possibly have. They've kept me and [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew supplied with tapes, CDs, zines and websites above and beyond the call of duty. If they ever try to pimp you into something, I highly recommend the experience.

(still evil, though!)

No real SG-1 spoilers, 'cause I'm still too incoherent with rapture, plus I really want to go start writing. The same post-ep that everyone's going to be writing, I'm sure, but heck, I'm not actually on any lists, so I'll never know the difference.

Jack! Daniel! Jack! Angst! Pretty!

Off to rewind and watch until I pass out cold.
