Oh, wow, thank you so much for the amazing comments! I am thrilled to hear that you found everyone IC, since I really like it when characters are still IC in AUs.
Yes, Uther must have held a hell of a yard sale to come up with that much money! Especially when I looked up how much the real royal family is supposed to be worth. I have a feeling at some point Arthur will open up whatever crate the Crown Jewels were shipped in and find that they've all been replaced with plastic tiaras. And I think Arthur did know how much it cost, but he already feels kind of skittish on the subject of Merlin on a lot of levels anyway, so he was probably trying not to think about it too hard. *g*
I did find it really interesting to think about Uther, Morgana, and Arthur's potential roles in the conspiracy and how they would react/live with this knowledge for so long. If I were in that kind of position, I suspect I would have a nervous breakdown pretty quickly.
I am immensely relieved that the relationship between Merlin and Arthur came across well and got you invested. I really like it in fic when both of them have independent motivations as people, and I'm glad those motivations worked in the reading here.
Oh, and I tried to keep all the canonical movie characters the same, so yes, the chancellor definitely had to stay female! But the movie didn't give any of the heads of state names, so I just went ahead and amused myself by naming them after the various kings and nobles from the TV show. *g*
Thank you so much for the great feedback! I had a great time reading it. :-)
