Oh, this is so wonderful! It all works perfectly. I love the switch between past and present. It's a brilliant way of skipping from the moment of finding out about the catastrophe and the arks, to the beginning of the end, without seeming contrived. And it's a lovely dramatic twist that Merlin and Arthur are broken up during all of this. I found it really endearing how it's Arthur who seems to need their relationship more.

I was completely shocked by Morgana and Uther's deaths, but in both cases it was very much in character, and great drama.
