I agree with everything you say here! And I'm still incredibly delighted about this episode. :)

I'd say it's 50/50 - a little bit of both. He does trust Merlin, and he's used to (and probably gets a secret thrill or two out of) Merlin behaving extremely weird all the time. "Merlin" from Arthur's POV is a long list of oddities, weirdness and strange inexplicable occurences and all of it revolving round his manservant...
