Yeah, Destina posited the same scenario, too. I honestly never thought of it that way because I didn't think it was completely OOC for him to want that to be the very last thing he ever said to his son. But if he did know that Arthur looking back would set him free... then he was already plotting how he could go kill Arthur's wife and knights, which just makes the whole thing even creepier. :-(
