Wow. That was really something.

Eeeeeeeee!!!! That was really awesome. Classic Stargate, in all the best ways. Finally, after such a long emotionally dry spell, we get a real team episode. Team action, team adventure, team humor, and everyone's relationships given equal time. This made me very happy.

What can I say about the shaving/crossword scene? I'm sure everyone's covered it pretty thoroughly by now, but allow me to squeal once just for the record. I loved that Sam made Daniel promise not to help him, but he was going to do it anyway. And the fact that it turned out to be a bet with Sam was absolutely the perfect punchline. So funny, so perfectly Jack. I've missed him so much.

I was wary about the idea of Weir when I first started reading spoilers about her, but I like her, really a lot. She's very likable and sympathetic without feeling like she's being shoved down our throats. I feel the same way about the president, with his lovely, confident snark -- even if I still think he looks like the love child of Jack Nicholson and Michael Douglas. Bleach can be had by the door on your way out.

On the flip side, can we *please* kill Kinsey now? He was never an amusing villain, and now his self-righteous stupidity is just bugging the crap out of me. Dead. I want him dead.

Much of the rest of my commentary here is a unapologetic slasher's shriek of glee. There doesn't have to be a heavy Jack/Daniel quotient for me to enjoy an episode, but I surely appreciate it when I get it. And tonight we got it!

* one last "Jack." "Daniel." for the year. I always melt when they do that--so much intimacy and silent conversation--and this certainly was no exception.

* on the planet with the thing. The way Jack pushed Daniel back, Daniel's frantic "Jack!", the way Daniel touched Jack after he fell the first time...yeah, that was good for me.

* at the house with the team. Daniel just waltzes right in, doesn't he? And surely the fact that there's no coffee when Jack thinks there should be some means that Daniel drank it all before he slipped out to pick up Teal'c. And it's nice to see that Daniel's still just as cheap a date as he was in the very beginning.

* Daniel looking at the gate with Weir. He was so smooth and calm and rational and well-rehearsed with her -- right up until he started talking about Jack's predicament. Then he got all agitated. Gee, go figure. *g*

* in the briefing room with the banter. I can't even tell you how much I loved the revisiting of The Fifth Race dialogue. That's one of my favorite episodes anyway, and it's always nice to see that the writers actually remember what they've done before.

I also loved the Teal'c (the "depth," the donuts, the hugging!) and the Hammond and the Bra'tac, but my memory is starting to blur as to where Part 1 left off and Part 2 began, so I'd better stop before I start accidentally spoiling. Plus, a lot of the character commentary I want to make comes from the second part. I guess I'll just have to go rewatch it to refresh my memory and prepare a new post for next week. *g*

Oh, and on the note of my personal "arrrrgh" -- Sam shows up at Jack's house, and within two minutes, she completely jossed the whole premise of the story that I've been slaving over for three months. With that one throwaway line about Sara. Thanks a bunch. This is why I can't comment about the shippiness or lack thereof of that scene -- I had to leave the room for a few minutes to cry (though I made it back just as Daniel and Teal'c walked in)(my radar is unfailing). This is at least the third time this half of the season that they've thrown me a setback. I think I should take the hint and just go work on my SG-1/TAR crossover or something.

My eyes are burning and my head is aching, but now I must go and read everyone else's posts so I can squeal over all the interesting stuff I forgot. *g*
