Bad News - my TiVo decided of its own volition to *not* record House last night. Those of you who can imagine the sound I made when I got home and discovered this, please do so now. For everyone else, it sounded sort of like, "ggggggggggggggnnnnnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh!!!*&^*&^!!!"
Good News - one of the things I was doing while not being at home watching House was getting a new palm pilot. Frodo, my dear old Handspring Visor, slowly faded away last year, until at last the Grey Havens became an inevitability and I had to face the fact that I could no longer read fanfiction on the bus. I keep meaning to get a new one, but they haven't been making what I really want in the PDA line these days. Everything has bells and whistles that you have to pay out the nose for, and I just couldn't do that. I don't need wireless web access, I don't need a video camera built in, I don't need it to make me french toast in the morning. I just want to read some fanfic, and maybe have a bit more memory for said fanfic than poor Frodo had.
But then I got the latest Palm newsletter, and lo! they have started making the Z22, which is being marketed to very simple people who might be a little scared of technology, but is exactly what I wanted. Three times the memory of the old Visor, very light and skinny, and a color screen upon which I can not only read fanfic but also look at pretty pictures. No bells, no whistles, and exactly the same price I paid for clunky Frodo a few years ago.
So I was up much too late last night, but on the bus this morning I read fanfic and looked at pretty pictures of Simon Le Bon and John Taylor groping each other. Well, actually, I was passed out against the window for most of the commute. But I could have done those other things if I wanted to, and that's the important thing.
Bad news - there is House squee all over the place, and I can't read any of it. *grinds teeth*
Good news - the Democrats kicked all kinds of ass at the polls yesterday! How the hell did that happen? I never realize how much hope I've given up in this country until someone dangles some hope in front of me. And the best news of all? Those of us in Maryland no longer have to watch the gubernatorial catfight ads from Virginia.
Good News - Eclecticon this weekend!
Good News - yuletide assignments soon!
Good News - ...okay, I'm out. Which means Bad News for me - back to work.
