Apparently, we have tornadoes in the area.

Well, no, actually, we don't have any tornadoes *yet*, but it looks likely that we might at some point this evening have tornadoes. And they aren't actually *here*, they're two hours south of here.

And yet, my local CBS station seems to think I want to know about this *so badly* that I would rather watch the same radar pictures over and over and over again for an hour instead of watching The Amazing Race.

I should be watching The Amazing Race right now. But I'm not. This is irritating. Anyone to whom this weather information is relevant should be in their storm cellars by now, not watching CBS.

I goaded [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew into calling WUSA -- when she called information for the number, the operator wanted to know what the hell was going on, because she'd had a flood of calls wanting that number. The station, apparently, is being overwhelmed with complaints.

And yet, they're still talking about the potential tornado-producing thunderstorms.

The *potential* tornado-producing thunderstorms.
Has it just been too long since our last national or regional disaster? Are the networks having preemption withdrawal so badly that they have to *interrupt the reality TV with reality TV*?

People in Kansas are laughing at us right now.

Heya. Just wanted to make sure that you heard that they're running The Amazing Race at 1:37am on WUSA.

I'm with ya, sister. I missed Ewan on Letterman 2 months ago because they interrupted broadcasting to tell us about our weather. Fine. Then they wasted another half hour telling us about a tornado in Oklahoma. Dudes, this is several hundred miles away! Luckliy, a friend in another time zone taped for me. I still don't have the tape yet, but I get it next week. Hope they rebroadcast for ya!

Well...I was going to rant, but your rant amused me so much I've lost the ranting mood.

I am especially amused about the operator, though. Hee!! We tried to call the station several times and got a busy signal all but once.

interrupt the reality TV with reality TV... Hee!!

Thanks! I've set my VCR, since there's no way I'm staying up for that with any hope of being functional at work tomorrow. *g*

They did finally run a scroll about the reairing, about 3 seconds after we called them the second time to whine about it!

Oh, how aggravating! I'd really have been yelling about that one. *g*

Hope you get your tape soon! They are finally airing TAR here, at 1:37 in the morning. I think I'll be taping it. *g*

Hee! Yeah, there were several amusing aspects to it all, really. I'm tickled that they were so swamped with complaints. It was just all so stupid, you know? That was the part I objected to. I can deal with waiting until tomorrow night for TAR, but dammit, it was DUMB! *g*

You know, on the one hand, I agree: aggravating. OTOH, my area? SO blase that when the civil defense sirens are going off I still can't find a tv station that has interrupted programming to give information.

So...

Nope! Not a single tornado in the entire area under the warning, and really not even that much storm damage. Mostly we just got some flashy lightning and buckets of rain. And I got a snooty letter from the station telling me to bite them. *g* But I still think a scroll would have sufficed!
