That LJ Survey!

Snagged from a whole bunch of people. I hardly ever get around to doing these, but I really want to put off actual work this morning for as long as I can possibly manage.



01. Your live journal "user name" & what it means:

"marzilla" is the fault of kalyw. Way back when, we were chatting during the day, and I said I'd be right back after I went and nuked my lunch. I got distracted by work stuff on the way to the kitchen, and half an hour later I finally make it back to my desk and get a typical smart-ass remark along the lines of "geez, Mar, what are having for lunch, Tokyo?" After that, the marzilla nick stuck, and when I was looking for a livejournal name, I wanted something that would work both for my fannish and non-fannish identities. In retrospect, I should have just done a variation on my fic-writing pseud, to be more recognizable, but then I'd need another journal for the real me, and I barely have the energy to keep up with one.


02. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your livejournal represent who you actually are?

I really have no idea. I'll go with a 6, unless someone who knows me in RL wants to contradict me.

03. How much about your life do you post to lj?

Not all that much in the larger sense. An occasional rant or funny (to me, anyway) story about work, but it'd be hard to accurately keep up with my life just through my LJ.

04. Is there anything you refuse to post about?

No. I'm more comfortable posting about fannish than mundane things in here, but that's probably a result of the majority of my friends and friends-of lists being fannish in origin.

05. On a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others?

No clue. Depends on which others we're talking about.

06. From who/how did you find out about lj?

I don't remember, actually. I think a bunch of people on one of my lists were talking about it, so I went and got one just for the heck of it. I didn't post anything in it for months, though, until therealjae started bugging me about it. :-)

07. Has anyone ever joined lj because of you?

I've helped pimp a few people into it, but no one's joined exclusively because of me, no.

08. What proportion of your posts are friends only?

Not all that many. Occasionally I'll feel like keeping something more contained, but not very often.

09. What is your favorite interest on lj?

I love all my interests for different reasons. My TPM related interests are my biggest fannish love, and I like my wombat related interests for the sense of community.

10. Has anything on lj ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something?

Yes. There are many passionate and eloquent people here who are quite capable of making me think.

11. How often do you respond/comment on other peoples journals?

I go in phases. Sometimes I'll comment on just about everything on my friends page, and other times I won't comment on anything for weeks, even when I mean to and know I ought to.

12. Do you prefer to write in your journal, read other journals?

Definitely read. Takes less time and energy, and I'm a lazy person, especially online.

13. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on lj (or did it to someone else)?

No, not really. I've said a couple of snippy things in comments, but nothing that would qualify as mean. And I'm just not controversial enough to attract it, fortunately.

14. Have you ever banned someone from your journal?

No. I didn't even know it was possible.

15. Who are your favorite lj friend(s) and why?

My favorites fall into two groups -- people I feel close to outside of LJ, and people I barely know but who post interesting or entertaining things in their journals.

16. How many of your lj friends have you actually met?

Hmm... alisalohv, cara_chapel, chelseafrew, darththalia, enchantedmoon, gloriana, indalia, isosarei, kalyw, karitawyr, keelywolfe, kris4n6, lanchid, lanning, meeby, minnaleigh, natlyn, ndannais, sithdragn, tayawulf, therealjae, the_emu

17. Of all of the people on lj you know of, who is the most like you?

Hmmm... well, everyone is to some extent. They wouldn't be on my friends list if we didn't have traits in common. But in terms of general temperament and interests, sithdragn, kalyw and cara_chapel are fairly like me. We should probably all be scared now.

18. Why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list?

If I know them from somewhere else (list, chat, RL), or if we've interacted in a mutual friend's journal.

19. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first?

No.

20. What is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list?

If I didn't know who they were and couldn't figure out why they added me. Or if I found their journal unpleasant or irritating to read.

21. Is your "significant other" on lj?

Sure! Both of them, even! ewan_daily, ourliam

22. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on lj?

Sure. Lots of people on LJ I'd love to meet. Escapade!
