I'm not a particularly lucky person, except in the way that I have lucky people as friends.  Wednesday, I got to see an early screening of National Treasure with [livejournal.com profile] ndannais (reviews and plot are so irrelevant -- Sean Bean is smoking hot in this, so if that sells you on a movie as much as it does for me, go see this immediately).

And now [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew just informed me that she scored passes to an early screening of Alexander.  *discreet, dignified squeak of joy*   This means that I have to step up my pre-movie re-reading of Fire from Heaven, but I think I can handle that.

Tonight: National Treasure again.  Tomorrow:  Kinsey with Liam.  Thank God Finding Neverland isn't opening here this weekend after all.  I might not survive Johnny Depp without resting up first.

Wow, this is the shallowest entry I've seen all day.  So, how 'bout that national debt ceiling, huh?

No no -- convince me. Because Sean Bean being smokin' hot in a film is almost enough to get me in the door, but... dude, I was burned badly by "Ronin". (Which would have been 10 times more interesting had SB's character shown up again at the end and proven to be a British agent who was working in tandem with Reno's French one, and whose wash-out at the start was part of an elaborate sting. But I digress...)

Mostly I looked at "National Treasure" and felt only tired by the idea of paying for the meager return of getting to see SB on the big screen but, inevitably, in yet-another underutilizing-his-talents badguy role that I am willing to bet involves his punking out in some climactic way. *sigh* I've also just become less tolerant over the years of wringing what SB-enjoyment I can from films that leave me to contrast it sadly with whoever's been cast as the "star". (I like Nicolas Cage; or, I should say, I *liked* him; but... ehn.)

But it could also be that I just haven't heard somebody sell me "National Treasure" in the right way. (Which is to be expected, as most reviews haven't even bothered to mention SB by name, or say anything about his performance.)

You will be giving a full report on "Alexander," right? RIGHT?!

I actually had passes to see NT last week, but just didn't feel up to going that night. Sean does look fabulous in the ads, though.

He looks fabulous in the movie, too. That longish hair just works for him.

And I will certainly report on Alexander, which is not having so much luck on the hair front it seems, but hopefully will still be fun. :-)

It's funny; I remember seeing an ad for "National Treasure" this past summer (maybe at "King Arthur"?) and was underwhelmed by the presence of Nicholas Cage. But I perked right up when Sean Bean appeared on screen. I know we're supposed to be cheering for Cage, but frankly all through the ad I was thinking "But I want Sean to win!"

Oh well, as long as he's in it, I guess I'll be winning, right?

Yup, when Sean's onscreen, we're all winners. I really dislike Cage most of the time, but he's just psychotic enough in this that I can buy him. Plus, Sean was there much of the time to distract me. *g*

Hey - we actually managed to see Kinsey today. IM me sometime. I'd love to swap thoughts on it beyond Liam is really, really hot when kissing another guy. *g*

Hee! Yes, it was an interesting movie, the really hot Liam/Peter kissing aside. I'd love to talk about it with you!
