Some weekends you just need a con, y'know?  And it was convenient that there happened to be one this weekend.   While there were several moments when I was pretty sure I was about to keel over and die from exhaustion, I made it (mostly upright) through Connexions and had an awesome time.  So, my brief con report, aka:

Seven Random Things from Connexions:

1) George Lucas owns my ass.  Oh, I always talk a good game in the two and a half years between movies, all sophisticated and cynical about how I'm never going to let him break my heart again.  But then the posters and the trailer and the action figures show up.  I'm his bitch, and I might as well just admit it.  (Total damage (for now): action figures - 6; books - 4; lightsaber mini-M&Ms - 2 that got given away before I'd been back to the hotel for fifteen minutes).

However, TPM fans are still the best people around to hang out with, so it's all worth it.  And we have the prettiest zines.

2) Public notice: I am about to fall into Magnificent 7 in a bad way.   No, I haven't yet started watching my shiny new tape of it, but I can see it coming like a freight train.  Or the flu.  At least I can't say I wasn't warned. ([livejournal.com profile] noelql told me about the angst.  And the pretty.)

3)  Awkward moments in vid watching:  When you're watching a vid and you really want to laugh, but the vidder is sitting two rows in front of you and you're not sure the vid is actually supposed to be funny.  Gah.

4) I brought a dozen sets of House DVDs to give away at the con.  They vanished less than five minutes after I set them down on the makeshift pimping table.  I am hoping that this indicates more that there's a burgeoning local interest in House than that fans will take any kind of media if it's free.

5) I finally have too many active fandoms.  I think it becomes official when you can't actually manage to talk about all of your fandoms at a single con.  I managed, but only by accosting [livejournal.com profile] barkley and [livejournal.com profile] elishavah in the lobby Sunday afternoon to talk about Battlestar Galactica.  So clearly, something has to go.  I'll take votes for who gets voted out of my head.

6) I thought I was done buying art that I can't hang up until I saw that Suzan Lovett had four new SG prints (new meaning since the last time I looked).  But I was good.  I only bought three of the four.

7) Surprisingly (though perhaps only to me), David Hewlett is kinda hot when kissing another guy.  I discovered this by accident while innocently shopping for magnets. Funny how that happens.

LOL. Okay, so why do you dislike M7? What should I be warned about?

I just think it's dull and melodramatic. Yeah, there are some pretty men, but that's not really enough for me. I'm probably not the best judge, because I love the original movie, and the pale imitation of the series makes me kind of roll my eyes. *g* But several of my friends love the show to pieces, so I am certain they would rebut with enthusiasm. :D
