Some days it pays to come to work
Jun. 20th, 2002 04:15 pmNow that school is mostly out, several of my cow orkers have started bringing their small fry into the office with them. For the most part, they stay quietly in their parent's office -- but not one little six year old hellion-in-training. For her, the office is definitely an interactive experience. After challenging me to a typing contest (she won, I'm sorry to report, even with one arm in a cast -- but alas, my boss will not agree to her taking over my workload with her superior skills!), she wandered into the office next to mine, where several cow orkers were discussing actual work-related things. A few minutes later, the following snatch of dialogue was heard:
6YO: "George, Brian is in love with you."
CW1: "Not in my office!"
6YO: (chanting, for next several minutes) "Brian's in love with Georgie! Brian's in love with Georgie!"
*sniff* I'm just so proud.
Brian and George proceeded to hold hands in the hallway, and as George left a few minutes ago, he stopped in Brian's doorway and serenaded him with "Goodnight Sweetheart."
Work usually isn't nearly this entertaining from where I sit.
