Cori Lannam, age 29 12 and 3/4
Jul. 11th, 2006 10:19 amI'm fortunate to live just down the road from the annual Shore Leave convention, which is cheap and always fun to at least go hang out at for a day to reconnect with the larger fannish world outside my little contained slash box. I've seen some nifty guests talk there, but this was the first year that I was really, really excited in the sad, uber-fangirly kind of way.
Jamie Bamber. *sigh* Divine Apollo, adorable Archie Kennedy, all around lovely English guy with an unfortunate habit of dying in everything he's in, and the first actor I've braved an autograph line for since Peter Wingfield in 1997 (amusingly, in the same hotel, just down the hall).
He was lovely and intelligent and charming and funny and thoughtful and I did not stop squeeing for two solid days.
To share the squee, I brought my digital voice recorder. Here are Jamie's panels from both Saturday and Sunday. My recorder missed a few of the actual questions on the Sunday one, but everything Jamie said is there. If you have any interest in BSG, Hornblower, poker, or a hot English guy talking about soccer in French and Italian, it might be worth a listen.

We also got to see Amanda Tapping (on whom I now have a *massive* girl crush because she was so fabulous), Carmen Argenziano, Corin Nemec, and Gigi Edgely (whom I kept running into in the hallway, by the trash can, in the restroom....) Then I came home and watched the World Cup final and the Doctor Who finale. Work was a bitch when I had to come back to the real world yesterday, but I'm just considering it the karmic price for a weekend of so much fannish glee.
