I love how you analyzed Arthur (I agree, by the way) and yes, the lying from Merlin will have to be addressed. At this point, despite understanding Merlin's reasoning, I feel awful for Arthur. The one person he completely trusts, and he's been lying to him for years...
I did enjoy Gaius's conversation with Arthur, mainly because (and I know that this opinion may make people hate me) I haven't cared for him at times in the past. I know that his primary concern is Merlin, but his consistent lying to Arthur and telling Merlin to do the say didn't always endear him to me. The conversation partly helped to fix my opinion of him though!!! ;)
