Well, this was almost a really good episode! And it wasn't bad -- a solid MOTW filler episode, just not quite up to the level of the rest of this season.
A few thoughts:
* "Merlin can't even find his own backside!
* Gaius gave Merlin his medicine bag. Gaius is so going to die by the end of the season, isn't he?
* Loved Elyan sticking up for Merlin. I burst out laughing at the "He's a boy!" "His name is Merlin!" because I like to think they were consciously poking fun at their own silly opening credits line.
* Love that Arthur is so freaked out when Merlin doesn't come back that he has to go riding out after him. And I liked that he barely listened to Agravaine and didn't take his advice. I wonder if that's an indication that he no longer trusts him -- or at least realizes that his advice isn't dependable.
* Love Gwen's travelling clothes. /shallow Love even more that finally they remembered that she and Elyan are siblings and let her show so much attachment and concern for him. Also loved her helping Merlin figure out what was going on and what to do.
* DIE AGRAVAINE DIE.
Quote from my best friend as Agravaine got more irritated as Arthur kept finding the right trail: "One of these days Agravaine is just going to hulk out. CAMELOT SMASH!"
* The knights turning against each other and Merlin... I dunno, I wish that had been a little more interesting or amusing or something. I did like all the knights getting more screen time -- especially Percival. Rowr. I enjoyed the cute little moment between Merlin and Gwaine at the beginning, intended, I'm sure, to demonstrate the contrast with his later behavior.
* "I could have killed you any time I wished." "Then, what are you waiting for?" RRRROOWR! Wow, the way he said that was so unbelievably hot. Merlin might not have much confidence in his medical abilities, but boy, his confidence in his magical abilities this year is so damn hot.
* Action!Gwen at the end, woo! Loved seeing that -- and so did Arthur, heh heh heh. I enjoyed the kiss at the end, too. I'm finally feeling this relationship from both sides.
Next week -- I don't know whether to feel dread or excitement. I am actually really excited to finally see where this whole Lancelot thing is going.
Only I won't, because I'll be at my mother's house with no internet. *sigh*
