corilannam | New UK Stargate Pro Novel Mini-Review

The good thing about staying home today waiting for my date with the ~~executioner~~ dentist was that I distracted myself by finishing Trial by Fire, the first of the new Stargate pro novels being published in the UK. I had been planning to wait to hear how it was before I ordered it, but then I heard that it dealt with part of the aftermath of Abyss. I couldn't get to amazon.co.uk fast enough after that.

And after reading it, I'm happy to report that it's a very good book indeed. A good action plot, a really fun OC archaeologist, loads of Jack/Daniel angst, a sharp-edged Sam, and a solid, imposing Teal'c. I've heard the author is a fanfic writer, and while I don't know who she is, she definitely brings a certain fannish sensibility to it. And yes, it's definitely slashy. *g*

It isn't perfect, of course, but I felt it was more than worth my 5 pounds, even with the lousy exchange rate. Smallish print, too.

So, has anyone else read this yet? Any discussion about it anywhere?
