I have been incredibly productive this week, despite my best efforts. Maybe it's because I finally ran out of Sirius/Remus stories to read, but I've managed to catch up on all my outstanding work projects, with enough time left over to catch up on all my outstanding master_apprentice archiving.

I also managed to get two seasons of "Seachange" (David Wenham's popular TV series) downloaded and transferred over to the computer where I can put them on DVD. I refuse to feel any guilt over not ordering the DVD sets from Australia because honestly. Australia is really far away.

My TiVo is still beautiful, though we have come to the first major quarrel of our relationship. For some reason, the TiVo (which I've decided to name Aragorn, for reasons that are logical only to me) is having major problems connecting over the phone line and downloading program information. It will only consent to connect when I use the very shortest phone cord I have, which barely stretches across my room to the phone jack, and once I got it to connect, download, and update, it still told me that it didn't have the new program information. O, TiVo, don't let our honeymoon end so soon.

It did allow me to keep up this week with the DNC, which has revived my flagging joy in Democratic politics. I'm far from sanguine about the state of the world, but I feel a little bit of optimism for the first time since Dean dropped out of the race.

Tonight -- Denzel, Chinese food, and Stargate! And if I'm reeeeeeally lucky, maybe another National Treasure trailer....

RE: Tivo and the phone cord...

Have you tried one of those isolator things they give you to plug your phone into when you have a DSL? Maybe it'll strengthen the signal for a longer cord. The roomie has a really, really long cord to her TiVo and no problems, but there's also no DSL on that particular phone line into the house.

Yeah, it has a filter plugged in. Ruth also has no problems with using the 25-foot phone cord that came with her TiVo, but if I use anything longer than 5 or 6 feet, it just doesn't work. Sigh. I'll probably just have to move the TV to be nearer to the phone jack eventually.
