I'm still plugging away at my nanowrimo story, but I'm doing a horrible job of creating time to write. The one positive thing is that over the weekend with [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew's help I figured out several key plot points and what the overall structure was going to be. This is helpful information to have. It also explains my slight case of writer's block, as I wasn't starting at the right beginning, and the block is always a sure sign that I'm doing something wrong.

In the meantime, I wanted to do that meme where you post a sentence or two from each of your works in progress for a couple of reasons. First, because I've been having a great time reading everyone else's, and second because this is the most airtime some of these poor stories are ever going to get. It's really fun to look at some of these again, though.

Divided by fandom --

***
"What have you done, Severus?" Lupin stared at him over Black's bowed head, with the familiar mix of awe and horror. "What in Merlin's name have you done?"

**
"But it's not true. It's just an old hag's tale." Sirius leaned forward, eyes burning. "I looked it up. I did research."

***
Remus was staring at his pudding. "Are you going to eat that?"

Sirius had, in fact, intended to eat it, but something in Remus's rapacious gave suggested that it would be either the pudding or Sirius's fingeres. Silently, he shoved the plate over.

***
"All of me is still yours. I'm only sorry there's so little left."

***
"It's okay," he said as he stroked her hair, "if you want to pretend I'm him."

She stared at the wall past his shoulder. "No, it's not okay."

"Sure it is." His arm tightened around her waist. "I'm pretending, too."

***
Tyrol tried to back away when he heard Lt. Thrace's thick voice. "Are you going to tell him, Lee?"

***
"I am no Elf, to go such places."

"But you are Elf-friend, and you are an Elf-friend such as there has never been in all the world, save for those who took this journey before us."

***

Then Faramir turned two, and although no one else agreed with him on the subject, Boromir discovered that he had a demonic changeling for a brother, rather than the innocent darling everyone else saw.

***
"Faramir," his lover moaned in his ear.

"Fool," he whispered back. "Don't say my name."

Not that he had plans or anything, since Daniel had been ignoring him all day in favor of so-called mission prep. Like Daniel ever prepped for simple recon missions, other than getting his favorite bandanna laundered. It was beneath him.

***
"Yeah, real unfortunate." Because what the human race really needed were more little guys running around with anal probes, no supervision, and a questionable sense of scientific ethics.

***
"I would have chosen you, Daniel," Jack said. "I would have."

Daniel smiled around the emptiness. "It's okay. It's enough that you want to believe that you would have."

***
"Um...."

"Flattering, but--"

"No. No."

"Really."

"Just--"

"No."

***
We can say about this book what few other memoirs can claim: that a generation of the world has been waiting on tenterhooks to hear what this one man has to say about his life and life's work.

***
"We always like it when you're with us, Dr. Jackson." The major grinned. "Even when you eat all the candy bars. Makes us feel safe."

Daniel frowned. "Why's that?"

"Because whatever shitstorm you stir up, at least it's SG-1 that's coming to rescue us."

***
She quivered again, just as she had when sliding to her knees between Daniel's legs -- a dangerously submissive posture, but with Daniel she could let down her guard. She bent her head to take his hard cock into her mouth, and with a moan, he surrendered all power back into her hands.

***
[And from the nanowrimo project]
"Yes, I am familiar with this event, O'Neill." Thor inclined his head, which then drooped with a sense of melancholy. "It has not been the same since Kevin and Drew in Beijing."

I was going to do TPM and JP3 as well, but frankly, I'm beginning to both scare and bore myself with the sheer volume of things I've never finished.

Wow. That's an impressive number of works in progress! Dare I ask how many there are in TPM and JP3?

Um... I'm not sure you really want to know. Meaning, I'm not sure *I* really want to know.

Buenos dias!

Even your snippets are wonderful to read.

I'm sending along encouraging thoughts to you, chica. Next year I'm planning to participate and wish to get the karmic wheel turning now!

Con affeccion,

JD Greybraid

Thanks, hon! It took me a full year to build up enough writing karma to even attempt nanowrimo, so it's always good to start early. :-)

Hee. So true. And tell me, tell me that you're writing SG-1 Does The Amazing Race, because if you are I will laugh and laugh.

Ummm...well... so if I said yes, would you be laughing with me or at me?

With you! With you. I love TAR. Also, if anyone can do that kind of trip without blowing up at each other in a race-ending kind of way, it should be SG-1. (Or any two-person combination thereof...)

No blowing up at each other? But, where's the fun in that? *g*

Well, okay, Jack can blow up at Daniel if he won't stop bitching about how they missed the season where they got to go to the Pyramids. That would be okay.

You're going to finish that first HP story, right? I'm very intrigued.

It's actually the HP WIP I have the best chance of finishing, since it's the best story of the lot, IMO. Which is no guarantee, of course, but there's a chance. *g*

Very nice!

I especially like the SG-1 fics. Might actually get me to read more in that fandom. ;)

And I will officially put in a PPLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE for you to post some TPM wips. Even just reading a line or two of Obi-goodness makes me happy. ;)

Hee! I'll get you into SG-1 someday. It's my long-term pimping project. Guess I should work harder at that, huh?

I would love to post some TPM lines, but I honestly have no idea where any of the TPM WIPs are at the moment. This could be why I haven't finished any of them. *g*
