First off, thanks again to everyone who was so sweet to send me birthday wishes last week! I had a lovely day on Thursday - played hooky from work and talked
chelseafrew and
ndannais into joining me for a day of lunch, shopping and movies in DC. We saw Mirrormask, which was fantastic. Perhaps a little weaker on the storyline than I was expecting from Neil Gaiman, but the visuals completely blew me away. Then I decided to extend my birthday through the weekend with a nice dinner out with friends, lotsa really cool presents, and then the Renaissance Festival on Sunday. Nice end to a week that started off really, really awfully.
My present to myself: a ticket to go see INXS in February. I'm going all by my lonesome, since all my friends here were MiG fans, and thus are rather bitter, but that's okay. I'm just hoping they have t-shirts that say Our Band: INXS, or I'm going to be disappointed in their marketing saavy. And Lovehammers stuff. They must have Lovehammers stuff.
My present from the universe: Yes, it's what everybody and their mother is squeeing over --
On other subjects:
- work on the TPM story is actually going swimmingly. I say this in full acknowledgement of the fact that saying it will immediately give me terminal writer's block karmic backlash, but I wanted to enjoy the moment. I decided to finish the old WIP - and yes,
kris4n6, there could well end up being Obi-Wan non-con in it. We'll see.
- And when I'm done with that story, there will be
yuletide on the horizon!
Yuletide is seriously the most fun writing I have all year. Possibly sad, but very true.
- I am deeply, deeply addicted to
. This is the fault of many of you out there, though I can't remember now who finally pushed me over the edge into trying it.
- I haven't had much TV commentary lately, mostly because while I am nominally watching many shows this year, the actual watching of the shows has not occurred with nearly the regularity I had planned. TiVo and bittorrent allow me to be very lazy and rewatch Doctor Who episodes and Duran Duran concerts a hundred times rather than concerning myself with the current season of... well, everything else. I'll work on that. After I finish "Bad Wolf" just one more time....
