Jan. 13th, 2004 01:43 pmIs it sad that the most exciting thing about last week's West Wing is that Miss Alli did the TWOP recap?
Though a good writer could do things with the hints of Leo Angst. Not that I'm looking at anybody.

To go from one WW to another...
Week One of Weight Watchers ended yesterday, and I managed to rid myself of five pounds. Most of it's water, I know, but it's still nice to see some kind of result. Following WW turns out to not be so hard, since it mostly involves just being more conscious of what I'm putting in my mouth (always a good thing, yeah?) Shopping for it is actually fun, and I'm gradually learning to replace the empty calories with, well, less-empty calories. Haven't quite managed the water yet, or the exercise, which is going to be the real key to my ultimate success or failure.

My new TV addiction -- A&E's Airline (tagline: "We all have our baggage.")
A&E sent camera crews to hang out at Southwest Airlines at the LAX and Chicago Midway airports and film any interesting stories. I missed the first episode last week, since I hadn't heard about it until the Washington Post review the next day, but I immediately liked the idea. Southwest is entertaining to fly, so it seemed like it might make good TV. And it does.

My Cold from Hell is finally mostly gone, but I still can't write.
I have managed to clean out half of my closet, though, thanks to the inspiration from my tape of the most recent Clean Sweep marathon. I can't watch more than 5 minutes of that show without getting the undeniable urge to purge stuff. Purging is fun, especially when it involves crap I haven't looked at since college. I found relics like my ticket stub from the WTC observation deck, and my first college ID, which shows me when I was young and skinny.
Tonight, though, the Stargate story is going to see some progress, even if I have to lock myself out on the balcony in the cold until I have some pages written.

Haven't quite managed the water yet, or the exercise, which is going to be the real key to my ultimate success or failure.
Well, you know, if you came out here to the Windy City,

Date: 2004-01-13 12:15 pm (UTC)Actually, I really do want to work out. I have my yoga tapes and my weights, and my coworkers go walking every day. But between the Cold from Hell last week and my sprained ankle/bruised knee from the week before, I just haven't been able to do anything for long enough at one time to count. Bleh. But at least the cold is gone now!
I'm really proud of you guys, too! We're all going to be so svelte and fit, we are. *g*

*ahem*
Date: 2004-01-13 02:38 pm (UTC)And that a friend of your friend's boyfriend was in it!! Don't forget that! ;-)
And also!
Date: 2004-01-13 02:40 pm (UTC)You must let us know what things count in points and whatnot so we appropriately stock (or don't stock) any gatherings. But don't bring us more chips you're getting rid of. That's mean. ;-)

Date: 2004-01-13 03:37 pm (UTC)Kind of sorry! [G] I couldn't stand seeing them in my house, though. They were mocking me! [G] Truly, they were.

Date: 2004-01-13 07:16 pm (UTC)Seriously, spawn of Satan.
I stared longingly at a bag of Lay's Sour Cream & Onion chips today. I know I love that flavor, but I also know I'm attracted to the green bag. I just love green.
And the chips......so so tasty. After nearly 4 years I still can't be left alone with a bag. I'll eat them all!!! *Especially* when I'm drunk. God help me, I crave sour cream & onion chips like a fiend when I'm drinking!!!
*Ahem*
As I was saying, chips=evil. Pure evil.

Date: 2004-01-13 07:18 pm (UTC)I think I might have lost a little bit, too. Doing all that walking on the treadmill has to do something.
I need to go look at the LJ WW community...

Date: 2004-01-13 07:53 pm (UTC)You rock! And I am totally jealous. I only lost 2.8 pounds this week. My lovely non-existant metabolism strikes again! I will continue onward though, using your success as my model!
Pssst, any progress on that Stargate story yet? My grant's done and I need some reading material!

Date: 2004-01-14 08:22 am (UTC)And alas, no progress on the SG story. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I ended up going home and staring at the wall instead of writing. Argh!

Date: 2004-01-14 09:59 am (UTC)Bummer! Perhaps you need inspiration. I suggest that you go home from work today and spend all night with your shiny Stargate DVDs. *g*
