So after a week of total, non-stop suck last week, I was sick and miserable for most of the weekend, which turned out to be the perfect excuse to do nothing but wallow on the couch with my blanket and watch Farscape.  This worked out so well for me that I called in sick yesterday and did it again.  After mainlining all of the first season, I can only say, where has this show been all my life? ("Over on your to-be-watched list while you were giving The West Wing 'just one more chance!', you idiot.")  I am, of course, madly in love with John Crichton and even more madly in love with Aeryn Sun.  Tonight starts season 2.

My current Farscape addiction means that my TiVo is going to get very cranky with me.  I suspect that more shows that I've been watching on a trial basis are going to get the boot.  Clubhouse is already long gone, despite the pretty.  I was giving Veronica Mars and Jack & Bobby a chance, but honestly, there's only so much high school angst I have room for in my entertainment life, so they're probably going to be toast after this week.  Lost and Desperate Housewives (which if you run those titles together, would make a really funny show) are staying due to extreme coolness.  I'll miss sleep for those.

And I actually had a dream the other night that I was pimping Hawaii to somebody.

I've decided to do NaNoWriMo this year.  I've been wanting to do it again for a couple of years now, ever since my first attempt ended in laughable failure, but I've never had a project that was suitable.  This year, however, I have the perfect thing -- a silly Stargate story with no redeeming literary qualities other than being very long, and which I will never write if not forced to do so in one giant push.  This forces me to spend October actually doing the research and outlining it requires, which I've been putting off for ages, due to utter lack of external motivations.

In the meantime, it's back to another sucky work week.  When a weevil infestation turns out to be the highlight of your week, it's time to reconsider educational options.

Go, you! Write that huge SG story.

I'm available for beta duties on...*checks calendar*...oh, look! Coincidentally, December 1 I'm totally free. *g*

Oh, so glad to hear you're writing the Stargate thing for nanowrimo. I can't wait to read it. Let me know if you need any encouragement from one who's been there.

As for the sucky work week, there's a little job that I nudged you in the direction of that might solve all your problems -- have you applied? :-)

If you need someone to poke you on wordcount occasionally in November - I'm doing NaNoWriMo, too. In fact, I got sucked into being a Municipal Liaison this year, so I'll probably be in overbearing wordcount-poker mode, anyway. *g*

Thanks! I'll definitely need all the encouragement I can get, especially since I haven't been writing much at all in the last month or so, let alone almost 2,000 words a day.

And I think solving all of my problems might be a wee bit of an overstatement, but let me tell you, applying anyway gets more and more tempting as the hours pass here. *g*

I am pretty underwhelmed by Jack & Bobby so far, but I am liking Veronica Mars. The setup for it -- the best friend's murder and what followed -- kind of raise the stakes higher than the average teen angst. And I just like her -- she is smart and manages to have confidence despite her loss of status. The show just has an intelligence about it that I find appealing.

I'm not sure what it is about Veronica Mars that isn't working for me. I *love* the basic plot and set-up, and I like the idea of Veronica -- I'm just not connecting emotionally with her at all, and the writing isn't quite sharp enough to hook me without having some sense of caring about the heroine.

But I still have another episode on the TiVo, so I'll give it one more shot and see if it gets me. It's a show I really want to like.
