Yes, I got up early this morning and fulfilled my civic obligation, and I was delighted that it took me about three times as long as it did four years ago.
I got to my polling place around 8 a.m., and the line was down the hall and out of the door of the school, almost past the hoarde of minority soccer moms passing out Democratic sample ballots and Kerry/Edwards literature and the two lonely gentlemen handing out Bush pamphlets. I've never seen it like that before, even during the after-work rush in previous elections. I heard on the radio that they're expecting 80-90% voter turnout in my county today, which if it happens would be extraordinary. I just really hope that similar numbers turn out everywhere in the U.S. today.
So no matter whom you're voting for, get out there and vote if you're an American. Seriously, it's one of the best things about living here. Don't pass up the chance. This isn't the year for apathy.
