corilannam: (starbuck stuck at work)

I've been meaning to jot this all down, so to speak, for a few days now, but I've been a little mentally sidetracked lately.

Thanksgiving turned out to be really fun.  I went down to [livejournal.com profile] tayawulf's where [livejournal.com profile] lanchid was cooking dinner, including, thankfully, a mountain of stuffing sufficient even for me.  [livejournal.com profile] natlyn and [livejournal.com profile] xyellowroset and I partook of their largesse (and their alcohol), and then spent several hours laughing over fannish geek lore that happened before (most of us) were even born.  We watched traditional West Wing and Sports Night eps, I got hooked on The Persuaders, and then I ended up sort of accidentally spending the night when a viewing of Jurassic Park III was promised.

Things I learned at Thanksgiving:
1) Even after three years, it is still less embarrassing to admit to liking Alexander than it is to confess how many times I saw JPIII in the theater.
2) Josh may or may not be Aaron Sorkin's Mary Sue, but if it's Sam, then he really has some self-esteem issues he needs to work on.
3) Impossible as it may sound, there are TV shows in this world almost as gay as Starsky and Hutch.
4) If you want to see what [livejournal.com profile] lanchid would look like on a combo of speed and perhaps heroin, tell her that a Buffy box set is on sale somewhere for $18.

Friday night I spent reinstalling Windows on Starbuck.  That was fun.

Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew and I went up to Philadelphia to see her hot deaf Broadway boyfriend the musical Big River.  She obligingly let me drag her through the Philly Museum of Art, which we managed to cover a good bit of in the hour and a half we had.

We went to find parking by the theatre and walked around looking for somewhere to eat.  Our choices seemed to be something like The Capital Grille or Wendy's, without much in between.  I just wanted someplace where they would bring me my food, but without it costing more than my theatre ticket.  "They need, like, an Olive Garden or something around here," I said randomly.

Then we turned the corner, and right across the street there shines a large Olive Garden sign.

"Wow," [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew says. "A power you didn't know you had.  Wish for something else, like Jude Law."

So I did, but apparently my powers are limited to summoning Olive Gardens in cities that are not my own.

We ate at the magic Olive Garden, then went to the play, which was quite excellent.  Tyrone Giordano, [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew's Broadway beau, was as adorable as promised, and after the show I asked [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew if she wanted to go around to the stage door.  "Maybe," she hedged.  "But I'm not talking to him."  So around to the stage door we went, and there was her Ty, looking very nice in street clothes, just loitering on the sidewalk and waiting to be fangirled.  But some of us were too chicken sophisticated to fangirl, so we started the long trek back to MD bereft of the loving glow of the celebrity encounter. Alas.

Sunday we went to see Johnny Depp's latest, Finding Neverland, which was absolutely the loveliest movie.

And at some point over the long weekend, I finally started on my yuletide story.  I have no idea how many words it is so far, since I write longhand, but there are words on the paper, so I might not have to change my name and go into hiding on the 21st after all.  Whew.

My Ty? He's a hot guy and a drink! I'm sorry...I couldn't resist. *G*

And I think we should just keep trying to have you summon an Olive Garden here. Maybe one of these days it will work!!

Maybe you have to be already looking for something in that line for the wishing to work. So next time you're looking for something hot and British, try wishing for Jude Law then.

Also, eighteen times!!?? What, were you memorizing it? Oh wait, I know the answer to that one. 8D

It was great fun!

And I've been meaning to e-mail you, too, which I will tonight hopefully. Long story short, the computer is still woeful, but somewhat functional after I hit it over the head with a brick.

Well, when one has a room full of Sorkin fans, one must at least watch "Shibboleth" and "Thespis," mustn't one? *g*

We also watched "Two Cathedrals." It probably should have been "Noël," but I had a yen to watch the Latin scene again.

That you are. *g* And I'm just going to keep hunting for an Olive Garden all around the neighborhood. Sooner or later, space and time must bend to my will and produce one. Right??

Oh, but I'm always looking for something hot and British! Hmm, maybe that's why Jude Law has made so darn many movies this year? My wishing went awry with Alfie, apparently.

And memorizing it? I have no idea what you're talking about....
