So I downloaded Moebius back when it first aired in the UK, and I watched it right away because all the other kids were doing it, and I justified it by telling myself that I'd get a head start in writing down thoughts for an LJ post.

Now, did I write anything down? No, I did not. (Oh, come on, you were expecting differently?)

So while I am going to make SG comments, as this is almost my last chance for the year and I really quite liked the finale, it'll have to wait until I rewatch the episode. Why did I not rewatch it tonight when it was on? Because I was watching ice dancing (and my sweeties, Belbin and Agosto), The Ring, and then [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew finally showed me the pilot of Now and Again, as she's been promising to do for years.

Oh, my.

How is it that this show did not ignite a firestorm of slash fiction within twenty-four hours of its debut? I'm told there's no fanfic to speak of, but I can't quite comprehend how that's possible. The immense prettiness of Eric Close aside, I know enough about what happens in the rest of the series to boggle at the unrealized plot and angst potential. Honestly, Fandom, what happened?

Speaking of Eric Close, I don't suppose anyone out there has any avi or mpg files of Without a Trace season 2 that they'd be willing to put on a disc and send me? Name your price, I'll make it worth your while.

I've wondered "where the fandom is" a bunch of times, myself. I do have a bunch of answers though; fans tend to respect an existing marriage (especially when he so clearly loves his wife), black/white pairings tend to have smaller followings, which is kind of a bummer; the show was only on for 1/2 a season, so a lot of people have never seen it...

Still. Slashy as *hell* to my mind.

The show actually ran for a whole season - 22 episodes in total. In fact, it was expected to get a second season, and then suddenly did not. *sigh*

I really miss my show!

Yep, you're right -- sorry about that. But "suddenly" -- that's the word, all right.

I miss it too. I'm glad to see that they're both doing okay (24, WAT), but it's not the same.

These are all good points (other than the 1/2 season thing, which Noel already pointed out). And I haven't seen the rest of the episodes, so I don't know how much room there is in the plot for potential fanfic.

Still. He was singing to him! He was singing Carpenters songs to him!

Go home, right now, tell your boss you're getting a cold, and go watch the rest of the eps! Or actually, don't. It's actually got a horrible cliffhanger (which made them canceling the show even more cruel than usual), so whereever you stopped probably was kinder than where the show stops. But trust me, there's room in the plot. Lots of room.

(And yeah, Noel's right -- I don't have any idea why I thought it was a 1/2 season, except for the mental scream "Aah, it ended so abruptly!")

I've only ever seen one vid for it -- the first version of Kryptonite, by [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r -- but at least it's a really good one. She's got a vid website, but honestly, I don't remember the URL or password.

I've got all of the eps, too -- if you wanted to pimp me a song to vid, I might be convinceable (was that subtle enough?); if you wanted to write a story, I'd beta (oh, I'm *sure* that was subtle). I'd sure love to see slash for them...

Hee! Amusingly, I *am* actually getting a cold. But alas, the tapes are not at my house, so going home wouldn't help.

I'm glad to have warning about the cliffhanger -- [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew has been stubbornly refusing to watch the final episode ever since it aired, out of a determination to believe that if she doesn't watch it, that means the series isn't really over. Apparently, that was a good call on her part. *g*

Man, DVD would be awesome. Other one-season wonders have gotten DVD sets, so maybe this will, too.

Honestly, Fandom, what happened?

For me, it was two-fold, because Michael remained so obviously in love with his wife, and because honestly? While I saw the slashy set-up, I never felt that the tension between Michael and Morris was USTy, myself.

The wife issue is certainly significant. I'm not sure I could overcome that enough to actually write, depending on how it's handled in the rest of the season. But I guess I'm trying to jump ahead mentally, to a Stargate-like place where the marriage becomes less of an issue. Only the series never got that much time, which I suppose may answer my original question. :-)

Where were you? Lord knows, [livejournal.com profile] deannie and I tried to drum up a fandom. We even ran a panel about it at ConneXions that year, and virtually no one appeared. There are a couple of vids and some now defunct websites, but that's pretty much it for a fandom.

We have all the episodes if you need further crack. *g*

Where was I? I was waiting for someone to pimp me! I distinctly remember asking several people *ahem* to show me this slashy wonder, but it wasn't until I could use the Eric Close leverage that came with the new Without a Trace obsession that [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew finally caved. *g*

Should you ever get those puppies onto DVD, though, do keep me in mind. *g*
