Apr. 1st, 2005 12:37 pmThis morning I left home, got halfway to the bus stop, and realized that I was wearing two completely different shoes. I say this as fair warning of my mental state to those of you who are about to see me at Connexions.
On the upside, most of you missed my screaming panic attack (which actually occurred in very calm, massively internalized silence yesterday) about my computer's sudden lack of booting abilities. As tends to be happening to me a lot lately, one minute the computer was working, the next minute very much not. I managed to get Starbuck to boot and stay booted for long enough to get the DVD burner working. As soon as I'm home from the con, I'll finish burning files off and then go ahead and install XP Pro, which I finally have thanks to the magnificent
mrshamill. Stability! I crave stability!
In general, I hate April Fool's Day because I am, like, the most gullible person ever. I hate it when people play tricks on LJ or mailing lists, because I always have a moment of amazement or panic before I remember what the date is.
But sometimes when big websites do it, it's damn funny. Here are my favorites so far today:
http://www.google.com -- click on the link to Google Gulp.
movies_michelle pointed out NASA's contribution -- http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap050401.html
And
chelseafrew pointed out that Entertainment Weekly is fooling with the HoYay -- http://www.ew.com
And now I'm ditching work early to head off to Connexions, for a nice weekend of slashy talk, socializing, and foisting House DVDs on unsuspecting fen. Wheee!

Date: 2005-04-04 06:27 pm (UTC)Did I see you at Connexions and not know it? Entirely likely, and a shame, though I was probably being silly at the time...
