Spike the Refugee Kitty: Round 2
Mar. 15th, 2006 10:57 amComing home from my usual Supernatural/Amazing Race marathon at
chelseafrew's house last night, I noticed the glint of familiar whiskers in the parking lot outside my building. Sure enough, it was Spike the Refugee Kitty, whom we took in a couple of weeks ago overnight, then returned to his joyful family. Apparently his previous escapade did not make his joyful family into a more careful family, because there he was again, wandering around in the cold.
He came right to me when I called him, got away from me once, but then followed me up the steps until I could scoop him up and carry him upstairs to my apartment. I managed to smuggle him into my bedroom without any incident with
lanning's two kitties, who did not get on at all well with Spike the last time around. There was some meowing and hissing through the closed door, but Sasha and Cricket are still way scared of Spike, even though he continues to be no more than half their size.
So he spent the night confined in my room, and was very well behaved. He slept next to me with his paws wrapped around my arm most of the time, and didn't mind when I did my usual tossing and turning. He just found a new position each time, lying on either my arm or my feet depending on what he could reach. This is definitely a people kitty, and his people ought to be keeping a better eye on him, or one of these days they aren't going to get him back.
But they will today, spurred on by his fight with Cricket this morning, followed by his spraying of the litter boxes. Oy. Men.
