"George Clooney! George Clooney!"
Mar. 13th, 2006 04:17 pmFirst thing I heard when I woke up this morning: "Our high today will be 85 degrees, and right now it's 57 in our nation's capital."
Ahhhh. The perfect thing to hear first thing on a Monday. I am even wearing sandals to thoroughly enjoy this last day of faux-spring.
It made it very pleasant to stand at the bus stop, reading one of the new BBC Doctor Who books, with my iPod happily ruining what's left of my hearing. It took me a minute to notice the lady standing in front of me, gesturing at the book. I took out my headphones, and she was saying, "George Clooney! George Clooney! The Doctor!" in a thick Eastern European accent while pointing at the picture of the Doctor and Rose on the cover.
"No," I said. "Christopher Eccleston. But yeah, kinda the same haircut."
She looked a little confused, and I'm not sure I managed to convince her that the Doctor was not being played by George Clooney by the time the bus came. Now I kind of wish there was ever going to be a chance for me to meet Christopher Eccleston so that I could ask if he's ever been mistaken for George Clooney before.
And I had just this morning set a season pass for DW on my TiVo! I've seen every episode at least six times, but I'm still so excited I can hardly stand it.
Now, I am off to ditch work a little early, since absolutely nobody is here today, and I can't stand my windowless existence for another minute. Must have sunshine.
