I'm generally not the kind of girl who spends a whole lot of time communing with nature. You know how it goes. But sometimes it happens accidentally, even here in suburbia, and it's kind of nifty.

I was getting out of the car tonight, just as the sun was going down -- not that you could tell where the sun was, because it's so thickly overcast. As soon as I opened the door, I heard the very loud and eerie sound of a whole lotta geese honk-honk-honk-honking overhead. I looked up and saw a gigantic double-V of black dots moving swiftly over the dark gray sky to my left.

There was another bout of honking, lighter in tone, right over my head. About half a dozen geese were in their own, smaller V, flapping frantically toward the big double-V, honking steadily. Just as the big double-V was about to fade into the darkness, the little V caught up and hooked itself onto the end of one of the big Vs, like it was joining up with the caravan. We have a lot of geese around here, but that's the first time I've seen migration in action like that.

And now that I've had my little moment, I have 7 episodes of Leverage on my flash drive to watch. Excuse me.
