I was all excited to finally get to post my [livejournal.com profile] merlin_holidays story with my name on it. A big part of that was getting to crosspost to [livejournal.com profile] merlinxarthur, because it was going to be Story #5 that I needed to get my contributor's tag back.

Yes, I've been writing in this fandom for 2 years and I just made 5 stories. Hush. Two of them were real long!

But just now I was pulling all my post links in order to ask for the contributor's tag, and for love or money, I cannot find the crosspost of my big bang.

I know I crossposted it after [livejournal.com profile] paperlegends finished up. I remember doing it. I really do. But it's not there anywhere, either on merlinxarthur or even merlinslash, unless I have completely lost all powers of visual comprehension. I don't know if I dreamed it or what. Either way, it's obviously way too late to post it there now.

Sigh. I guess I'm still not a "real" Merlin writer.

But anyway, in case anyone was still wondering, my merlin_hols story was called "Same As It Ever Was." The original posting is here and the cleaned-up version (recommended) is here.

This story was awesome to think about and a hell and a half to actually write. I do kind of like the result, though, now that I'm further away from the writing process. My recipient gave me several inspirational prompting quotes and vids about life choices and regrets, which made me think about Merlin's fears and what, out of all his mistakes, would he truly regret.

While I'm confessing to fic, I also did a very, very last minute [livejournal.com profile] yuletide story. It was for The Tudors, and the recipient asked for "sexy rivalry" between Henry VIII and Francis I.

As I had just done a rewatch of season 1 of The Tudors, I did my best to oblige, even though it was after midnight on Christmas and certain people were eyeing me and tapping their virtual feet while I begged for just ten more minutes:

Rematched

It turns out that not a lot of people read Tudors fic that's not about Anne Boleyn, but that's okay! I'm just happy that I participated in yuletide after all.

Were you looking in the comms with ?poster= ?

Don't worry, you're much more of a 'real' Merlin writer than I am. :D

No, I was just scanning through the calendar on the date that I thought I posted it (and a month on either side, just in case!) But I think I figured out what might have happened!

I changed my LJ name when I had about 3 entries into mxa so I had to start over. Pbbt, I just stopped posting for now! :P

Oh, that's so annoying! I changed my LJ name after my first two stories, but it changed on mxa as well, so I didn't lose ground.

Did you have to ask them to do it? I asked on drawmelot but they are less busy moderators.

No, I didn't have to do anything.

I think it depends on how you change names. I used a name change token to change my username, but I kept the same journal. When you do that, everything you've ever posted anywhere changes to the new name, too.

But if you start a whole new journal, then your old stuff will still be under the old name. Still, I would think you could tell the mods and ask them to consider it all one identity. Then you could just put the new contributor tag on all of them once you got it.

What about just reposting your paperlegends fic to merlinxarthur and back date it? Unless you don't want to do that?

I was going to do that, until I read in LJ's FAQ that backdating doesn't work in communities. But I'll still probably go ahead and post it again anyway, just to be thorough!

fishwrites just recently posted her paperlegends to mxa. Maybe if you just explained in the header the reason you're posting it so late. Maybe you could check on the newsletters to see if it was listed at the time you x-posted it? Do you remember when you did it?

Um, well, I think you're one of the best Merlin writers, so you're definitely a "real" Merlin writer in my book.

Sadly, I haven't yet seen The Tudors.

Ohh, you should definitely watch The Tudors. It's lovely pseudo-historical fun - like Merlin, but with more sex and death. It always gives me a craving for Merlin depraved royal court AUs.

I think I will repost it -- if it was ever there, it certainly isn't now, so I guess it makes sense to just swallow my pride and toss it out there again!

The Tudors is on my list of things to watch some day. I love historical dramas and that period especially. Merlin depraved royal court AUs - that sounds great - know of any?

There might be some people who missed your big bang and posting it to mxa might remind them of it, so think of it as a public service. :D I loved it!

Sadly, none, though now I'm really in the mood for one! There must be some somewhere, don't you think?

I will definitely be (re)posting the big bang to mxa. It might annoy people to see a repeat, but it'll annoy me more for it not to be there, so up it goes!
