* Got my [livejournal.com profile] merlin_holidays assignment! I'm very excited and have already started writing a bit, though I have a ton of research to do before I can get too far into the plot. But it's going to be fun, I hope.

* I'm also scribbling away at two fics for round 1 of [livejournal.com profile] marguerite_26 and [livejournal.com profile] novemberlite's Kinkspiration Challenge. Am sincerely hoping I don't somehow drop dead with this notebook open somewhere; would be harder to explain than usual.

* Duran Duran News! John Taylor is publishing his autobiography. It's due out next fall. Needless to say, I will be pre-ordering that shit.

John's description: “This book recounts the million tiny seductions that are required to make the journey from English suburbia to selling out Madison Square Garden—seductions that go by a hundred different names; family, friendship, romances, collaborations and strategic alliances. Here is my journey and where it took me; into fantastic success, more than a little decadence, darkness, and finally, I like to think, a little enlightenment.”

Maybe it'll finally push me to finish the last Questioning story.

Woo hoo!! Hope you have a great time (and are healed up enough for dancing!)

I'm seeing them a week from next Sunday (and, er, again on that Monday). Can't wait!

Aww! That's so cool. I had a chance to go for free so I can't say I am a true fan, but I am excited anyway because I love live shows and the Ordinary World single CD was the first CD I ever bought myself.

Admittedly, I'm only going to 2 shows because I got the second ticket for my birthday. *g*

Live music is always fun no matter who it is!

Except Tears for Fears. They were not fun at all.

OMG, I didn't know I even wanted to read John Taylor's autobiography until now! Morrissey's is allegedly out in December as well. I may have to take a fanfic break.

I once thought John Taylor was the most gorgeous man to walk the earth...

Don't worry, John's book isn't out until late next year, so you have plenty of time to get caught up on fic before that!

He did used to be pretty damn good looking. In the 80s, he was kind of the dictionary definition of "pretty boy."

lol! Whenever it I think about someone finding my writing, I think of the book 'Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up'. The main character - a young catholic boy - had dirty pictures in his wallet and, to play it safe just in case he got hit by a car, with the pictures he kept a letter, to his cousin (IIRC), telling him off for daring to send him this sort of filth! XD

LOL... that reminds my of this exec that was fired at a company I used to work for.

Because he was so high up he was immediately escorted out of the building once he was let go. When they went through his office they found tons of porn mags in his desk.

YOU NEVER KNOW.

You are so right! He should've had a letter!

On our local morning show, they always joke about having a shovel buddy (UD entry: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Shovel%20Buddy). Every time they mention it I think I NEED ONE OF THESE! lol The alarm sound is even on their website. http://www.wmmr.com/shows/preston-and-steve/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10057836

LOL! That's kind of awesome. I would do the same, except that the porn is in my handwriting, so I'm not sure anyone would buy it. *g*

Woot! :) I'm glad you're happy, I love exchange fests but it's always more fun if you get a prompt you're immediately happy with!

I guess it depends on your definition of immediate! I always have a period of panic right after I read the assignment during which I freak out about what to do, lament my failings as a writer, and wonder why I ever sign up for these damn things in the first place. But then my story idea appears and I settle down. *g*

I still think we need an exchange fest for the spring!

You're right! I'm not the greatest writer so I know that my recipient is never going to be thrilled. But I always write something I hope they'll enjoy (except one year for Yuletide where the additional info was 'I like slash'. Three of the four character she'd listed were related and I don't do incest.).

However it's fun to play with the prompt even if you don't like it initially. Sometimes it comes out better than you'd hoped. :)

You sign up because it's fun and taking part is what counts!

Exchange fests are awesome though. Yuletide will always be my favourite but there should be a Merlin one. I would love for their to be one. (I didn't sign up for [livejournal.com profile] merlin_holidays because I don't like having the mods post my entry. /control freak. I can see why they do it, but I like to be the only one who can access my fic. *shruggs*)

But yes, Merlin fest! I can't imagine that it wouldn't be popular. :)

OH MY GOD...

You have no idea how often I have hand that same thought. :0

Oh, I suspect I could guess. *g*

I used to try to think up excuses for it just in case anyone ever saw my porn notebook while going through airport security or something. But I realized that there really is no explanation other than, "Yeah, I write gay porn. Is there a problem?"

IKR?? I always knew he was primo autobio material, but I never thought he'd actually get around to doing it! Fortunately, since he started tweeting he's been in a very share-all kind of mood, so I think we're in for a treat. *g*
