Woke up this morning to the nice people on NPR calmly noting that Hurricane Isabel is supposed to hit the East Coast "somewhere between North Carolina and New Jersey."

*looks down at North Carolina*

*looks up at New Jersey*

Hm.

This could be a problem. I'm from Arizona. We don't do hurricanes. And one of the reasons I moved to the mid-Atlantic was because of its lack of any severe weather habits. I think we've still got a flashlight somewhere from the last blackout, though, so we should be all set.

At least it's supposed to be over by Friday, so that [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew,[livejournal.com profile] ndannais, [livejournal.com profile] meeby, [livejournal.com profile] deannie, [livejournal.com profile] noelql and I can hit New York as planned to see [livejournal.com profile] rosemitchell and then HUGH JACKMAN ON BROADWAY. Which will happen, hurricane or no hurricane, because these tickets are damned expensive and nonrefundable, and because it's HUGH JACKMAN ON BROADWAY. SINGING AND DANCING. That has to qualify as a force of nature all on its own.

Plus, [livejournal.com profile] noelql has promised me that she's going to take care of Isabel for us, and I have faith in her ability to make even a hurricane back down when there's Hugh Jackman at stake. *g*

Oh, much jealousy over you getting to see Hugh on Broadway! I hope you have a fabulous time.

Not so jealous about the weather. One of the things I do like about living in the Pacific Northwest is that you don't have to worry about bad weather so much. I do miss thunderstorms; I don't miss tornadoes. *g*

Batten down the hatches. Don't want you flying to see Mr. Jackman in NYC the hard way!

I do love thunderstorms, and we've had a lot more of them this year than we usually do. I enjoy the heck out of them, right up until the power goes out. *g*

But it looks like the worst of the wind and rain we're going to get will be Friday morning, so by the time we leave Friday night, my road to Hugh should be free and clear. *g*

Last I heard, it was downgraded to a cat 3. That's still true, I hope!

Actually, I just heard a little while ago that it's down to a Category 2. Woo!

Actually, the latest projections have Isabel hitting North Carolina on Thursday, so we should be well safe, although a little soggy on our adventure.

See, I told you that I would prevail!!

I'm from South Florida (bet you didn't know that *g*), and we track huricanes on charts, espeically when they look as well formed as Isabel. But it should all be over by Friday noon. And if it doesn't decide to come up the Potomac, we should be fine -- rain and wind, but hopefully, nothing too bad.

Back home, we track hurricanes by watching the evening news and clucking our tongues and going, "Oh, those poor people. What'd I do with the sunscreen?" *g*

I'm crossing my fingers! The wind and rain will be fun enough.

*just bought 3 gallons of water and batteries*

I hope it does pass us by. And wave to me on your way to NYC :)

I will! :-) And I gotta go stock up on some stuff, too. Annoying storms.

Will wave as you all pass by to the north me here on potentially sodden/wind-whipped Planet Delmarva. Enjoy show muchly, with no worries: looks like Isabel is toast soon enough.
